Stuck in lobby while my friend is in champ select

My friend invited me me to join a game and I noticed it says he's in champion select which I find weird. I immediately messaged him to ask if he's in champ select and as you can see he replied "yeah". I could not do anything other than click quit and have my friend dodge for me.

ive had this happen to me a couple times. Once in promo. Never the less its a minor bug but should be looked at?

Same things happens to me acouple of times u cant really fix it but if it does happen to you dont dodge and keep clickng play a game and it will give u a error message and redirect you to your champ select
