Extreme ping spike

Hello everybody. I'm not sure if any of you are experiencing this issue, but I play this game on a laptop on a wifi connection and the ping is a solid 30-40. But as soon as I hit the 6-7 minute mark the ping spikes at a couple thousand and stays like that till the 10 minute mark. I don't want to get an ethernet usb yet so I wonder if there are any fixes.
