Wrong starter item on Shyvana

With todays new patch 5.22 a lot of items were introduced. Where as one of them is: aka hunter's talisman which gives 150% increased mana regain. My currently main champion: gets as essential item: . I have no idea why or who did this, but as far is I know Shyvana does not use mana. There for the starter item is useless. I think that the essential item sould be: . Shyvana lacks lifesteal and therefor this item is amazing to begin your jungle with. Maby I'm wrong and if so correct me or if there is another reason to pick Hunter's Talisman please let me know.

I actually was thinking the same thing when I was using her today. I definitely facepalmed for going out of recommended in the first place.

(Off the top of my head)

I tried out both. The machete does give you life steal, however the Hunter's Talisman causes you to steal health from the jungle monsters you attack (20 life I believe) while the talisman makes you deal 20 more damage to jungle monsters on attack. I wish my first item didn't have a lot of useless text when I jungle, but 7% life steal is not very useful at level 1.

The talisman works better of damage over time effects, since you are stealing 20 health when you damage a monster. It does not say only auto attacking, therefore Shyvana would be better with talisman because she has good DoT with her W (which you should be starting first).

After some testing I find item 1041 to be the best starter item for her, as well with 3 health pots. With 400 gold I recall and buy the item 1039 . These 2 combined gives me enough sustain, extra exp and i can do a full jungle clear with maximum 1 health pot. Im starting with becouse my auto attacks heal for 8% of the damage dealt (as well with burnout) which heals after reaching level 2 significantly more then what returns as healing.

So as a quick tip, start the game with item 1041 and 3 item 2003 . Recall after a few camps (I do that after I've done 1 side of the jungle) and buy item 1039 . These 2 items and 2 health potions will be enough until you can upgrade 2 hunter's items into 1 and your secondary item.

Talisman does need some buffs though. The duration should be only 2 or 3 seconds.
