Kicked out of champ select with ~10 seconds left to lock in

I was in a queue for the new champ select with my friend and we got into drafting just fine. We got through the bans and the first two picks on my team, then when it was his turn to pick we were discussing what champ he should pick for mid lane. He hovered over Talon as the clock ticked down at around 12 seconds, and right when he was about to lock in it kicks us from the lobby. We just assumed someone on the enemy team dodged since our team lobby was quiet, but when he tried to queue us up for another lobby it says that "A teammate did not lock in their pick or ban. Your group was removed from matchmaking. You are now back in a chat room with just your premade" in the chat box. A box pops up letting us know that he didnt lock in, but we are certain that he had at least another 10 seconds left on the clock to lock in. Hope this random bug gets squashed so that other people don't get blind-sided.
