6.22 - 6.23 Game crashes after champion select

Please Help,

I have been having a major problem with the LOL game client after the 6.22 update. I am able to log on, start a game, pick my champion and then when the game is about to start, I get an error that says "application error - application is unable to start correctly". After the error goes away, the game gives me the option to reconnect. When I try to reconnect the same error message appears and it has become a never ending process. I have a top of the line computer that runs windows 7. I know it is not an issue with internet connection either. I have never had any issues playing this game and now i am unable to play at all. I have looked through you tube and different feeds on how to fix the problem and nothing is working. I have also done a clean reinstall about 40 times... If anyone is having the same problem, or has been able to fix this problem, can you please share. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Similar issue here - but at least you are getting the "application error" message. I'm getting just a black screen. And you can't ctrl-alt-del your way out of this bug.

So i believe i figured it out. if you have AVG Antivirus... you have to right click the icon in the bottom right and turn off the protection. this has allowed me to play. i think its something to do with the firewall. but avg is stopping the game from working.
