Pantheon Passive not working against zed

I was recently top laned against Zed when i was playing Pantheon. Once i stacked my passive, zed used his q and e to do damage which did not consume my shield and still hurt me. In other words, Pantheon's passive only blocks Zeds basic attacks and nothing else.
