[Client] Unable to launch LoL client

I cannot launch the LoL client. The black and gold League of Legends symbol flashes up briefly but nothing happens after that.

I have tried the following:

running lol.launcher.exe as an administrator
running lol.launcher.admin.exe as an administrator
restarting my computer
uninstalling and reinstalling League
reconfiguring my firewall
deleting the lol_launcher folder and relaunching Edit:
I have also tried disabling Avast to no avail (going to try uninstalling now)

I also do not see League running in my task manager.

Nothing has worked. I don't even understand what kind of problem I'm facing. It's rather frustrating.

Update: I reinstalled it in a new location. That seems to have fixed whatever problem it was having. I'm not even sure what caused the error in the first place but this is a retarded fix.

Same thing here, someone found that it's really Avast causing this?

I have the same problem. Avast will not let LOL open. Says it contains malware. I also have tried running as admin, uninstalling, reporting as a false positive and disabling Avast. I have 2 computers and it is the same issue with both. Both are HP with Windows 8 OS. WTF?
