The execute is for melee champions only. Thresh is ranged.
Thresh is ranged. Execute ONLY works for melee. And don't give me the "but he is melee if you're close" deal, he just has 3 animations for autos
It's unfortunate that it doesn't though. Thresh is one of the supports that regularly uses it, but it becomes far more stressful and tedious to properly use the item's passive for the heal/gold than with other tank supports.
2 Gold Generation, 75 Health. UNIQUE Passive: Spoils of War: Melee basic attacks execute minions below 195 (+5 per level) Health. Killing a minion heals you and the nearest allied champion for 20 Health and grants them kill gold. Allies who benefit from Spoils of War also gain +1 to their minions killed score. These effects require a nearby allied champion. Recharges every 40 seconds. Max 2 charges.

What I don't understand is how enough people are trying out Thresh for the first time and don't understand that the relic shield execute doesn't work for him that I see this in the bug report section this often. It isn't even a hidden interaction; all the information is available when you hover over the item.
