Luden's Echo Proc [GAMEPLAY]

Problem: When playing AP Gangplank you buy Runeglaive Enchantment in order for his Q to do magic damage and make the build viable. All of the sudden after 5.13 the Q (Parrrley) no longer proc's Luden's Echo even though the gun applies all on hit effects and is doing magic damage because of Runeglaive. However the autoattack will still trigger the Luden's Echo after eating Oranges (W) or casting Raise Morale (E) because it creates a sheen proc that does magic damage (????).

Steps:

  1. Buy Runeglaive and Luden's Echo.
  2. Use Q and no proc of Luden's Echo. Statikk Shiv still works with the gun like it is supposed to.

You can reproduce this bug as fast as you can get to 100 stacks on Luden's Echo.

Taken directly from patchnotes 5.13 "BUGFIX Fixed a bug where Runeglaive was applying spell effects (e.g. Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Liandry's Torment, Luden's Echo)"

It's not a bug. The thing about GP's Q is that it is treated like an auto attack when it comes to on hit effects, so it apply on hit effects that proc off of auto attacks, like Statikk Shiv, Sheen procs, and Hydra. Luden's Echo does not proc off of auto attacks, it's a spell related on hit effect, so it should not proc off of GP's Q because, like I said before, his Q is treated as an auto attack, not a spell. It doesn't matter if GP's Q deals magic damage because of Runeglaive, it's still treated as an auto attack.

Now, the reason why you could proc Luden's Echo with GP's Q before this patch is because the Runeglaive enchantment. The AoE from Runeglaive was causing Luden's Echo to proc. However, Riot said this was unintended and removed the ability for Runeglaive to do so.

This is the same concept with Ezreal's Q.

Don't agree with this at all. It is a SPELL cast and therefore it should proc Luden's Echo. If it isn't a bug then it is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Yes it is a spell cast, which is why it will trigger Sheen's Spellblade passive, however as far as on hit effects goes, it is treated like an auto attack, so it will only proc on hit effects that auto attacks proc. This is why it procs Statikk Shiv, Sheen and it's upgrades, Ravenous Hydra, and even lifesteal, because it is treated as an auto attack.

Any ability that procs these types of on hit effects will not trigger any spell effects, such as Luden's Echo, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, and Liandry's Torment. This goes for abilities like Gangplank's Q and Ezreal's Q. This is just how it has always been. It is not wrong and does not need to be "fixed."
