What is this?

I got into a game of tft and we got our champions at the beginning and then once we got to the waves our champ was gone, and we had no items. When we bought champs and put them on the board they would not fight at all. And we would instantly lose the round no matter what. I feel like this gamemode wasn't ready for live servers yet.
