I am playing on Mac OS X. I am able to open up the launcher and make it into champion select, but when the game starts, it crashes every time and says that it could not be opened because it is incapable with my Mac OS X version. However, my operating system is fully updated and this issue has only occurred after the release of patch 5.9. Is there a solution? Is Riot aware of this issue?

I have the same problem as you described. I have updated my Mac OS to the latest version and the problem still proceed.
I also have the same exact problem. I updated to the latest version of OSX just days ago. As soon as I try and join a game (or create a custom game) the client crashes, and I can't reload it.
This issue is still going strong. Do I need to reinstall the entire game because of patch 5.9? Why isn't this being addressed?
Had similar issue that I also started a thread about. Looks like league on OSX isn't a think right now. Real shame for all the teams we've been forced to abandoned in the process.
I'm having the same exact problem. I'm starting to play LoL again after I stopped for a while a few months back. During that interval I downloaded the latest update for OS X Yosemite. I patched, got to character selection but was let down with that message. I guess LoL is not yet compatible with the newest version of OS. Riot pls fix thx.
