MAC OSX Game crashes after champ select on black screen

This has been happening since patch 5.17, where after champion select the champion load screen won't load. It remains on a black screen and when you tab out, the client responds with "The game has crashed. Please try to reconnect to the game." Even after patch 5.18-19 this issue is still happening. Everything up to this point has been smooth with every attempt resulting in the game crashing.
