Got invited to a game while in champ select, hit accept, couldn't lock in my ban, got kicked

Didn't think accepting the invite would actually work but the accept button was there... so I had to push it. Is this Rito's way of punishing curious summoners? Or am I just another unfortunate victim of spaghetti code? Please Rito, fix this bug so none of my fellow overly-curious summoners are doomed to the 5 minute time out I was forced to endure :( :( :(
