Weird bug didn't let me load into champ selection screen.

I was going into draft mode with one of my friends, and we had just got a match found. When we went to the champ selection screen, my screen was black and said "connecting to server." So I just waited it out, talking to my friend through the in-game chat system, so it definitely wasn't my connection causing the problem. Eventually, the screen went away and it said "the following player on your team didn't select a champion: Trevboss," which is understandable because I couldn't do anything with the black screen + connecting to server and all. Later, I was going to re queue with this friend, and I find out that I have a timer. Can anyone help me? I sure didn't deserve this.
