's Devastating Charge clearly says "His next attack knocks the target BACK"
's Last Breath clearly states even with colored text "Blink to an AIRBORNE enemy champion"
I was in a game where I got hit by ult multiple times without him using his third Steel Tempest on me right after used his Devastating Charge.
Knock back is NOT Knock into air.
Knockback and knockup are the same. thresh q and his e does the same thing (for the purpose of cc classification) knockup/back are both subsets of forced movement (separate from charm / taunt). Also note that being knocked back means they are "airborne" whilst being pushed around.
These mechanics have always been this way since yasuo's release.
Yasuo can ult off a Quinn E too, since it's a knockback. It's fine.
There's no Y axis in the game, back or upwards's the same.
