Matchmaking system not working as it should

Me and my friend were queueing up for a match, my friend selected: Mid Primary adc secondary

While i selected : adc primary top secondary

Neither of us were autofill protected but he got placed bot and i got placed top. Why is it that when two people are not autofill protected the primary pick does not over power the secondary pick??? This makes zero sense and needs to be fixed
