Cannot click anything in-game (Persistent Issue)

When I load into a game, my game starts our not responding, then starts responding, and once I am in-game, I cannot click anywhere or anything, left or right click. I am playing on a virtual machine connected through a steam link, but as long as my games are either in windowed or borderless, then i am able to play them fine, it works with overwatch, and I've had this issue before, not quite sure how I fixed it though, as it was about a year ago.
