Then your q wont activate. Does it seem like a really tiny issue? yes. Did it cost me multiple of kills? also yes. It is just that one small annoying bug. so if you could please make it so you keep casting your q even if you die meanwhile doing so.

It's just like when you cast (R)equiem but die while casting, it goes away. Lay Waste (Q) is a channeled ability where as Defile (E) and Wall of Pain (W) are not (Hince why they don't cancel). While in your passive state, you can continue to cast Lay Waste, and Defile is always up (at zero mana) which I think is fine for having one measly Q disappear because you died.
It's not a bug, it has cast-time and you dying during it cancels it like any other cast-time would be canceled. The fact that Karthus Passive allows him to linger doesn't change the fact there was a death in-between.
