League client won't open

Since the last patch, the client literally won't open. I try to open it from the LeagueClient.exe file in the installation directory and either:

  • nothing happens (no process or LeagueCrashHandler running in Task Manager either, so it crashes on its own)
  • it opens but hangs indefinitely with a loading animation
  • it opens, loading bar makes it about 1/4 of the way through, then it crashes

I tried uninstalling everyting Riot from my PC (LoL, Legends of Runeterra), restarting, doing a clean install, running in administrator mode, even ran the hextech repair tool. Nothing helped.

I'm on Windows 10 64-bit. Can post full system specs if it helps.

Do you have a smurf to compare to rule out technical issue:

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/Wbbi887q-client-closes-on-start https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/lygx7O6B-cant-login-to-my-account https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/YjM7TgKV-client-crashes-after-login

It doesnt look like a technical issues since smurfs are working.

If you are still struggling, please contact Player Support and explain your situation precisely: https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hi, Han. I had the same problem, but after I downloaded Windows Updates, it worked fine again. Maybe it was because Windows Updates includes, cumulative update for .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 (...) 64bit. Good luck.
