Avast! Antivirus Causing Crashes
For those who have Avast! Antivirus installed in their system, you may or may have not encountered this issue. The client crashes after the Champion Select screen and an Avast! pop up will appear saying a League of Legends related file has been detected as a virus. Upon relogging and attempting to reconnect to the game, you notice the client closes immediately upon clicking "Reconnect to Game". This only happened when I was queuing for ARAM and I'm not sure if other game modes are affected as well.
Steps to reproduce (If you use Avast! Antivirus software)
- Log into Game Client
- Click "Play Game"
- Joined "ARAM- Howling Abyss- Normal" Queue
- Entered room as Random- Master Yi
- Upon closure of Champion Selection, the client does not load the loading screen and an Avast! popup appears showing a certain file has been moved to the Virus Chest.
I have screen shots available to view and it also contains the fix.
Steps to fix the issue (2 screenshots included)
- Open Avast! Antivirus software
- On the home screen, find "+Add" box (Screen 1a)
- Click and find "Virus Chest" and click on it to add to shortcuts (Screen 1b)
- Click on Virus Chest and it should open up a window (Screen 2a)
- Find League of Legends-related file and right click it (Screen 2b)
- Click on "Restore and add to exclusions" (Screen 2b)
- The issue should be fixed and you can continue to enjoy League of Legends.
I hope this helps you all.
