LeaverBuster Insufficient
Today has been the third time this year I have undeservedly received a 5-game low-priority queue punishment. Each time, I was given this punishment after my client crashed during the loading screen and/or refused to reconnect. Even today, when I attempted to reconnect (and successfully did), I was immediately disconnected for "being idle", which didn't even make sense seeing as I was disconnected from the start (probably another issue of its own that should be investigated). So I reconnected a second time, and was able to play the remainder of the game with my teammates and positively contribute. Yet afterwards, I was notified that "for leaving", I would be placed in low-priority queue. I am extremely frustrated that, as a result of the client crashing and not my own desire to afk and leave the game, I am yet again an innocent being punished. My teammates weren't even upset with me! They understood how the servers/client can screw players over, which I believe says something of its own.
I find it baffling how LeaverBuster is still unable to tell the difference between someone willingly leaving a game to a disconnect or crash. This issue has also affected my best friend, who earlier this year received this same punishment for a client crash. While I note that it is a "policy" of Riot not to lessen or remove LeaverBuster punishments, I am not here to ask for my current (wrongly applied) punishment to be removed (I actually spent all day blasting through the five 20-minute queues to get rid of them, very time consuming and irritating). I am simply requesting that the LeaverBuster system be improved to differentiate between afk-ing, leavers, disconnects and client crashes. Because as of now, it is barely adequate at its job, which does not make Riot Games appear reputable to consumers.
