Akali shroud Lee Sin e Interaction a Bug? or intended

ExecutionerThel29 - akali w lee sin e bug testing

The Link leads to a clip I recorded with some testing about the interactions between Akali's W "Twilight Shroud" and Lee Sin's first e "Tempest" Akali's Twilight Shroud is a place able area where Akali is Invisible when not attacking. Only true sight and tower sight reveals this invisibility. If Lee Sin activates Tempest all targets hit are given the sight debuff allowing them to be seen in fog of war and bushes. It does not reveal stealth-ed targets. If Lee SIn activates tempest while Akali is shrouded him and his team will not be able to see Akali.

If Lee Sin hits tempest on Akali before she walks into the shroud or activates the shroud Akali is visible to Lee Sin and his team.

I'm not sure if this is intended or not and this may affect other invisible Champions but I thought I'd report these findings to Riot and the community. Personally I think this interaction is annoying and unneeded as it only works in very common instances and removes a lot of the differences between Invisibility and Camouflage.

Regardless I hope this post brought attention to how the video game works.

Because Lee Sin used E BEFORE Akali went into stealth.

If he used it after, then it does not reveal. Only Lee's Q reveals unit that is already in stealth, since it gives True Sight.

It's been how vision work as far as I've noticed. My understanding is that the only difference between Sight and True Sight is that the latter cancels the effect of invisibility even after has taken effect before the sight ability, but they both prevent invisibility from taking place if an unit is affected by either before entering stealth.

Could be wrong, though.

You're right (Got to think about it more as a Debuff and whether or not the situation allows the application of debuff), Lee Sin's E application of "Sight" can be though of as a debuff. Because the conditions are true when Akali is not in twilight shroud, the Sight debuff is applied for an X amount of time. When Lee uses E while she's shrouded, the conditions to apply sight aren't true so she doesn't get revealed. I really hate Akali as I am an adc player but I think "Akali can only be revealed by nearby enemy Turrets or True Sight" is a statement clear enough such that her W should not reveal her (This means the removal of the Sight debuff so a cleanse just for "Sight" would work).

Yeah League has some of that wording/high level design problems that Riot never got around to.

Remember Jax E's infamous wording of "Jax enters a defensive stance" that should've meant the ability is constrained that at the very least he shouldn't be able to use Q or Flash during the spinning but he could? It's basically that.

And it doesn't just happen in high level either, since in low level it's just a lot uglier. Things like Viktor's laser being coded as a projectile and thus is blocked by Yasuo's windwall being some of the prime example of this category.

If only Riot can get around them in a more timely manner so it doesn't leave people scratching their heads over confusion caused by the dissonance between wording and the actual interaction.

Given : "Tempest: Lee Sin smashes the ground, sending out a shock wave that deals magic damage and reveals enemy units hit. If Tempest hits an enemy, Lee Sin can cast cripple for the next 3 seconds." "While inside the shroud, Akali becomes invisible and unable to be selected by enemy spells and attacks and gains Movement Speed... Stealth - Invisible: Akali can only be revealed by nearby enemy Turrets or True Sight."

Lee Sin E : Sight not True Sight Akali W : Invisible not Camouflage

Case 1 : Lee Sin E ---> Akali W Lee Sin casts E Akali conditions are met so Sight Debuff is applied for X time Akali casts W (Does not remove debuffs, it just grants invisible buff)

This causes sight debuff to still be applied and enemies to attack her in shroud.

Case 2 : Akali W ---> Lee Sin E Akali casts W Lee Sin casts E Akali conditions are not met as Lee Sin E only applies Sight, not True Sight so debuff doesn't land (The damage is a different case)

This causes sight debuff will not be applied and enemies can't click and hit her.

As much as I hate akali, I do believe that "Akali can only be revealed by nearby enemy Turrets or True Sight" should hold true. How to fix this? Give Akali a cleanse only on the sight debuff.
