Neeko's help bug

So I just had a game that I was running 6 mages and I had the gold to go for a 3 star brand. I get 8 brands and I'm fighting one of the epic bosses and I got a neeko's help. I was ECSTATIC!! Until I went to put the neeko on my brand and it did the exact same animation and sound that would happen if you put an item on a champion with 3 items already. I still got first place, but I just figured this would probably be something that needed to be addressed.
