Force of Nature glitch

Sold a champion out of my bottom row who was holding force of nature , and immediately the game called back one of the champions from the field, as my team size was reduced by one.

This happened right as a round started so it was tough to tell what exactly happened, but when I put the item on a different champion it didn't go back up, and my team size was still at exactly my level. I tried selling that champ to get the item back but now my team size was one below my level until I put the item back out there again.
