Upgrading Little Legend Star Math Broken

I recently opened a support ticket with Riot to address and issue I noticed with the Little Legend star (★) upgrades in TFT. Here is the breakdown of the issue. I was the owner of a 1★ Dawnglow Silverwing. I hatched a 2★ Dawnglow Silverwing with a recent mission. 1★ + 2★ = 3★ being my math, I discovered that had only unlocked a 2★ Dawnglow Silverwing in my available Little Legends. Player Support told me that you needed 3 hatched legends to upgrade to a 3★ unit. Since you can get a 3★ from a single egg we KNOW that is not true. Does this seem right to anyone? Help? Am I just missing something?

It takes 3 of any little legend to get a level 3 little legend. However, the legendary little legends can sometimes hatch 2 from one egg.

The eggs that hatch aren't necessarily just 1★. You can hatch a 2★ or 3★ legend without it being a duplicate.

I hatched a 2★ Fae Hushtail from and egg. I didn't own one previously, and now I can use the 2★ variant. The response in the support ticket from Riot also confirmed that. (see below)

Also, they confirmed that you can upgrade a 2★ with 1 additional 1★ into a 3★ variant. (see below)

So to unlock a 3-star Fae Hustail, you'll need another one of any tier (1 or 2-star) since you already have two of the same variant. But if you're lucky, you might be able to pull a 3-star from an egg right off the bat!~

3★ = 3★ 2★ + 1★ = 3★ 1★ + 2★ = 2★ 1★ + 2★ + 1★ = 3★
