Jeweled Gauntlet not working on Neeko

Had a Neeko with 65% Crit for lots of rounds and her spell never crit (critted? Don't know the past tense of crit). Now this could be bad luck but I had her with those items for a lot of rounds, so she must have cast her ability at least 20 times. Therefore I assume it just doesn't work.
