I accidentally gave my volibear Spatula with Giant's Belt, and it didn't shunt off the item since he's already glacial. Lost me a game

I too had this issue. I made a separate post about it, because I didn't see yours, whoops. But it happened to me with Ashe, same items, Spatula and Giants belt. I had to sell my Ashe and it cost me a lot of progress.
