So you have a spatula on one champion. How do you make another item on that champ without spatula fuse ? Why the F we cant combine items out of champions? Any good reason for this or just RITO being RITO ?

you can just drag the items onto a champion on the bench and fuse it that way you know just buy a one gold unit and then sell it after fusing
The other technical way to deal with it is to combine with a unit that already has three complete items.
Adding the item to make the trait that the champion innately possesses, will pop the item off.
Somehow, I did once use a map element hex to free an item. (I think that I acquired a champion from carousel, when I had one on my bench, and one on a hex with two items. The carousel item popped off when they automatically combined.) (I think?)
