Had it happen in a few games, most noticeable when Ahri puts her ability through him, the initial outward damage does not register a hit.

The backwards motion does hit.

I'll see if I can record my future games so I can supply evidence

Garen is immune to Magic damage while spinning.

The reason the return portion of Ahri's ult (AKA her Q) deals damage is because the return damage is True Damage instead of being Magic, just like how her spell works in the real game. I don't know why it's not in Ahri's tool tip.

Cause like I said, the return part of Ahri's ablity is TRUE DAMAGE. It is not MAGIC/PHYSICAL Damage which means it completely ignores Armor/Magic resistances and will always deal full damage.
