Upgrading unit with Thief's Gloves

i had 2 silver rek sai's on board, 1 had TG, other didnt had single item piece on bench i had 2 brown rek sai's and from carousel i took reksai with sparring gloves, and after they combined TG icon kinda disappeared but in the beginning of the game (when reksai was going for items) TG and SG were always there but after she came back with new TG items there was no TG + 2 items but SG + 2 items (but +20% crit from TG was always on reksai) btw SG that were always visible were uncombinable with other item (but i didnt tried in that 1 sec when i saw TG)
