Hello I am a gold 5 ADC main, I've given up my journey to platinum "pretty much" for the season, as my skill level isn't up to the task.

Now, about my topic, I played Caitlyn pretty much from silver 5 - gold 3 and then got to the point that I'm bored of her, and I'm wanting to switch my main to Jhin. Now, my win rate is awful on him compared to most of the other adc's i play often, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If anyone who has a decent amount of jhin games.

I know I'm bad at him, I'm not sure what to do to get better, I want to play him because I have a LOT of fun doing it. Thanks for reading.

I'm level four on Jhin, not the best but I generally know the basics. I'm only Silver 3 so if you are ok listening to a scrub like me I'll help out :P

Well, first of all, I'm B4, so I'll probably immediately get told off, but anwyays. Secondary main here is Jhin, I have a fair/decent number of games/experience on him. (Level 5, almost 6)

I generally hold my 4th shot for harass when I can, since I can just use it any time to farm if I'm about to lose CS (or just use Q instead). Your abilities (Q/W/E) all refresh the duration for the 'time until reload' thing, if you want to use it to hold onto your 4th shot longer. They also all reset your auto-attacks (not sure if the E does, forgot). Auto-Q-Auto-W-Auto-Auto and Auto-Q-Auto-E-(Auto+W+Auto/W+Auto) are both possible near-instantly flowing burst combos, the latter being a bit harder. But the second of the two combos guarantees they won't be able to escape the trap, which is a fair bit of additional damage, and quite hefty in later game. Your E traps give a small range of vision and have a decent slow, so I generally place them along gank paths (river bush, along the openings), and then along the lane bushes for vision and harass. Your W does very good damage in mid/late game and it can kill low-health targets easily at that point, if you can land it. Your ultimate scales off missing health and comes with a powerful slow, so it's great for picking off fleeing/low-health targets. You also shouldn't feel mandated to use all 4 shots every time. Part of the cooldown is refunded for each unused shot, so just using however many you need is better. Also, if you fire like, one shot and then immediately exit and keep fighting/send in a W root for your team/etc, it can catch people off guard. If you're against a hard pushing lane, I like to throw traps down the lane to slow down and break up their waves as well, since he's not too good at farming under turret with his slow AS + static 2.5 second reload time.

The crit build is far better than the Blades build, because Essence Reaver + Infinity Edge is the strongest two item spike for Jhin, possibly one of any in the whole game. GB+DB is a cheaper two item power-level, but you might as well just hold out and get the former option, because just the raw AD of B.F. Sword or the other sub-parts isn't bad at all either.

Runes: 9x ArmorPen or flat AD marks (your choice, I prefer 3x ArmorPen/6x AD) 9x Armor Seals 9x MR Glyphs 3x AD Quints

I think I needed to explain myself better, I have no trouble doing well with him k,d,a wise, but that doesn;t matter to me, I've also played him for 100 ranked games this season as well as countless normals, but i just cant carry with him. Im looking for something more than what I can find in a mobafire guide. Thank you 2 for replying though, i appreciate your initiative.

What are you trying to learn? Positioning? Build path? Play style? What?

Positioning, macro play, where i should be at certain instances within a game, when jhin is a good pick or bad pick, best time to ult to get the biggest use out of it. like i said things that go past what most mobafire guides have. I know the 2 builds that work best, i know what skills to max etc, i play him a lot, i dont feed typically (4.2 dpg avg) but i just cant get the hang of carrying with him.

Well he is backline. So you want to play back during team fights. If you land your full combo you can one shot any squishy champion so do not worry about getting close to squishies. But when I say backline I mean BACKLINE. Let's compare this to football. If a normal adc uses the normal playbook(staying right behind the offensive/front line) then Jhin will do shotgun plays every time. Once cooldowns are burnt you can play a little closer. His ult is situational. You can use it to execute someone or when your team imitates a fight and someone gets low you can pop ult sort of like xerath. Just like ashe/kog'maw/any other immobile squishy you will not want to pick him into a team full of assassins/initiators. So if the team has two/three or more of lets say jax, vi, blitz, naut, akali, fizz, zac, darius, fiddlesticks, rengar, leblanc, kha, j4, maokai etc etc You do not want to pick him. Jhin relies heavily on A. Blowing people up and B. being able to kite/staying far enough back to be safe. So if there are multiple people that can dive you then you do not want to play him. You also do not want to pick him into a heavy engage lane like leona/lucian etc especially if the enemy team has a jungle that excels at ganking immobile champs like zac. Jhin is a heavy pick oriented adc, If someone lands an initiation on someone you need to land your w. Where to be at certain instances is completely situational and is something that goes hand in hand with game sense. After laning phase what you do depends entirely on how strong you are and how your team is doing vs the enemy team and what the enemy team comp is. If your team is going even then the best thing to do after taking your turret is to lane swap with the top laner and then the jungle should camp bot and mid should rotate top to pressure top/counter jungle ganks. If your team is ahead and drag is up do drag, get a pick and push mid. Etc etc it is just game sense.

Hard Carrying with Jhin? Get fed, don't die to assasins... in G5 you can pretty much pick ANYONE and win as long as you get fed. If you can come out of lane 5/0, then you are pretty much good. Unless your support SUCKS, your support probably SUCKS rip
