College varsity team (with scholarships) now recruiting

Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO has a brand new varsity esports program and is recruiting players for the 2018-19 school year. We offer competitive scholarships so you can finance your continued education playing the game we all love.

We are looking for players of all skill levels - as long as you have a positive attitude and are willing to learn and grow, you are welcome on our team.

Here are a few pictures of our soon-to-be-completed gaming room which will serve as the home base for our team. We have twelve high-end gaming rigs, a console gaming area, and a green screen space for streaming and other content production.

No, you don't have to be a current student to signal your interest. It is an official varsity team however, so you would need to apply to the university.

It's unfortunate you guys dont have a video game design curriculum. I've been looking for a college like that.

I agree :/ but, a lot of potential students have expressed interest in that, so between that and the university green-lighting the esports program, we will hopefully have a major like this in the near future. As for now though, the only computer science degree we offer is a personalized major where you take five programming and design classes mixed with a second major of your choice.

We are not at the moment, we just hired a coach actually. If the program grows enough next year however, we may be adding part-time assistants, so check back with us next year!

That being said, I believe Harrisburg University is looking for a coach, you might look into that. Best of luck to you!

I would still encourage you to apply - we will take anyone so long as they have a good attitude and want to improve. I imagine you wouldn't start out on the first team, but we are a school first and a team second, so if you want to play the game and get better while pursuing an education then reach out to us! I understand you're looking for this year, but are you looking for people in future years as well? I graduate in 2020 and would love to join in any game, such as LoL and Hearthstone![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
