Sound Resetting

Every patch, the sound resets to maximum volume. As I don't have a driver for my headphones, and these headphones are quite loud, I keep my volume very low. Specifically, I turn the overall volume to 20, but then set each individual slider down to about 1 (as this normalizes the difference between quiet and loud, for some reason beyond me).

Now, today, I was patching and browsing various internet things. The pling sound that lets you know you're done patching then boomed in my ear, and I almost literally fell out of my chair. I'm a little easily frightened player, so loud, sudden noises make me jump.

Is there any way to stop this sound or stop the volume resetting? Or is this an issue with the hardware/software of Windows, and not something that can be changed in League (whether by players or devs)? If so, is there something I can do to windows to fix it?

I was actually about to make a post about the same issue. It has bothered me since I started playing in early season 2. I still can't believe they haven't fixed it yet. It most definitely is not windows fault, because no other games do this after they patch. It might be a problem with the LoL client, but then again people have been asking for a new one for a very long time now.
