Rotating game mode queue now live!

From the original clone-tastic One For All to the sand-strewn battlefield of Ascension, rotating game modes provide unique spins on the classic League formula. It’s time to kick things off with the next game mode in the rotation: Hexakill: Twisted Treeline is now live!

For a refresher on the mode, let’s go over the basics:

It’s Twisted Treeline, so there are altars to capture and a nexus to explodify.
It’s Hexakill. So there are six champs on your team instead of three.

As in any rotating queue game mode, we’ve specially tuned Champion Mastery so you can earn points in the mode. You’ll also be able to earn keys for your wins and loot chests for your (or your premade’s) S-, S, and S+ games.

Hexakill: Twisted Treeline is now available and lasts through the evening on Monday (we’ll shut it down very early Tuesday morning--usually between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

We’re looking for your feedback as we go, so let us know. GLHF, and we’ll bring a sixth man alongside you in the Twisted Treeline this weekend.

This is getting ridiculous... All we want to do is play URF for a weekend every now and then, but you refuse to let us. We have no problem with it being a rotating queue, we have no problem waiting 1-2 months for it to return, but we DO have a problem with it being part of the rotation at the beginning and then being removed without being given a reason as to why, that is uncalled for and very frustrating to many individuals such as myself who love URF. We understand that URF gets old after a few days (for some people) but that's no excuse to remove it completely, just let us have our URF weekends back so we can have some URFF (Ultra Rapid Fire Fun).

Or make it a custom game mode, that would work too.

Do you notice how they removed URF from this paragraph, and replaced it with ascension. It seems Riot is getting rid of URF in the same dirty way they got rid of soloque.

I, and I'm sure many others just are more disappointed and frustrated with the rotating game mode queue at this point. We were extremely happy to hear we would be able to play the game modes we LOVE ( NOT HEXAKILL for example ) more often. But the game mode hype has died very much I feel like... Queue's always take longer now, and it just seems the majority of people ( I also take mini-polls in games because that sort of stuff interests me ) and nearly everyone has said the same thing I just said. Please do something. WE LOVE URF, and y'all know that. So help us out.

Doom bots will probably not be out for a while. As new champions and reworks keep happening they will have to continuously update it for every new champion, item, and rework. A lot of champions and items have been added (and removed) since so they all need to be updated for this gamemode. I really want it back too, but it is hard to say if they will go through all of this effort to bring it back.

Doom bots came out before the missile system rework ( https://engineering.riotgames.com/news/behind-leagues-new-missile-system ), so there's a decent chance that the many, many custom missiles (homing Ziggs bombs, orbiting Morgana snares, Ezreal ults that sit still before firing off) were never migrated to the new system.

Also, while doom bots were made from a small subset of the champion pool, they still will need to interact with the full champion/item pool. Judging from the constant list of entertaining/terrifying bug fixes with every patch, I would not be at all surprised if some variation of any of the following became an issue: Illaoi using Test of Spirit on a Doom Fiddlesticks clone tethers to the wrong thing/spawns too many tentacles/spawns no tentacles/crashes the game Braum dies instantly when attempting to block a Doom Ezreal ult Fragmenting abilities still fragment/get stuck/crash the game when hitting Yasuo's wind wall Doom Karthus going into Death Defied mode while inside Tahm Kench results in two Karthuses/makes Karthus end up at a nonsensical location/crashes the game Doom Karthus going into Death Defied mode while inside Kindred's ult results in Doom Karthus being invulnerable for the remainder of the game Doom Karthus going into Death Defied mode while inside Bard's Magical Journey causes Doom Karthus to get stuck in the wall Sion shouting away a Doom Fiddlesticks clone causes the crowstorm to stay for the remainder of the game Using Azir's ult on Doom Tibbers against a wall causes Doom Tibbers to go flying in a nonsensical direction Doom SwainPassive procs new Catalyst

Crazy that we get Hexakill and One For All around once per month, yet the game mode that everyone wants has yet to make a return since the first weekend that mastery 6 and 7 was introduced.

why the hell is poro king still here but URF isnt???? I mean honestly... Who even likes poro king? Its literally just ARAM with a giant poro that you can teleport to.

Riots logic: "Lets put in a stupid game mode that almost nobody likes in the rotating game mode queue, but keep out the one that almost everyone loves! That'll sure please the community!"

You know, it would be nice if there's some sort of explanation as to why URF is no longer in the rotation queue. I know, I know, you guys did say it would only appear twice this year, "at least", but was there a reason you guys had to use those two already at the start of the rotation queue and not spread both out through the rest of the year evenly?

Why is one for all back? It was here 2 weeks ago. Though I really like this game mode (my second favorite mode), I want to see the game modes that we all want (cough cough... URF). Also with the nexus seige gamemode. I played a few games of it, and it wasnt very fun. It was just released like last month and it will be here for 3 weeks in 2 months. I dont want it back that quickly. I just want everyone's favorites, such as Doom bots and Urf coming back more frequently (if at all as it seems). Please Riot. I know you guys read at least some of these posts, so just listen to us. No one wants hexakill, nexus seige, or anything else compared to how much we want urf. Also, I have one more thing. Make hexakill on Summoner's Rift. A map made for 6 people isnt fun when it has 12. It is too cluttered and boring af. Make it on SR please.

Normally i come to these posts to see what the community says but today i had to comment i understand that you guys are a company and you guys like to stick to what works because of the amount of people who play this game BUT i don't see why URF isn't a custom game mode i get you want people to play ranked and play together and enjoy your game not the specific mode but you guys have to be able to see the numbers when that game mode runs back into the rotations i know several people who hate to play all the time but the second it come on they buy new skins and play URF it has to be such a great boom in purchases of micro transactions i understand it would take a bunch of people out of normal servers but the repercussions is more people join the game more money from us to you and even the community BLOWS up about it i get again you are a company but don't you guys want to make the people who play your game Happy. i just had to throw in my 2 cents.

I like how everyone keeps saying Rito has forgotten about URF, but remember, URF used to be once a year, for about two days. We've already gotten a lot more URF this year then we used to.

Gonna correct you there. Urf both in 2014 and 2015 lasted a full 7 days. in 2014 it went on for a fully 2 weeks. We've had URF less times this year than the last 2 years.

This also is an issue as they put out champions a lot faster in previous years, and it's slowed down considerably, meaning there shouldn't be as much problem with Urf balancing as there was in previous years.

The biggest issue is that the game modes don't feel like they're rotating. I'm pretty sure most people would be fine if Riot gave Urf in the near future, because the reality of things is that outside Nemesis draft, Every other mode has appeared at least 3 times since the last time we had an URF mode, and a few of them get dull pretty fast (Poro King I'm looking at you)

The number of times game modes have shown up (in the order of their first appearance is...) based on what we see comming up by 9/19. Ascention : 4 Poroking : 4 URF : 2 Hexakill : 4 One For All : 4 DND : 2 Siege : 3 Nemesis : 1

You are right. Everyone will now stop posting these because Soireal seemed slightly annoyed by it. You singlehandedly stopped everyone from saying that they want URF in the rotation and have placated every player. I always wondered when such a person could come in the League of Legends community who could perform such a feat, but now we have all witnessed their masterful art of diplomacy. Truly, this is a momentous day not only for the game, but for all of humanity.

I don't know if any of the people asking for urf realizes this but urf is supposed to be a SPECIAL game mode. Not one that riot throws around every month. So around times such as Xmas they will put it out. But not now because no holidays are around now.

I can't remember Riot saying that URF will be treated differently than the other game modes on the rotation. If you have a link to an announcement where they say that, I'd be interested to see it.

For now, it seems to me that no one has a real clue why Riot stopped rotating URF. Also, even if they did decide to rotate URF much more rarely, I'd still want to complain on every chance I get about such a decision. I'm sure most people would still want to complain.

Actually Riot did post on the original announcement of the rotating game mode queue that URF would appear at least twice in 2016. So maybe in their thinking Riot feels they've fulfilled their URF quota for the year. That being said here's to hoping the last several months of "we're looking for your feedback as we go" at the end of every week's announcement will turn into URF coming back again at some point this year [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
