Final Boss Veigar returns and he’s brought a baddie to do his brutal bidding. He’s mean. He’s green (and purple). He’s Battle Boss Blitzcrank (CRASH. BOOM. LIGHTNING SOUNDS). Now that these two violent video game villains joined forces, it seems that their sights are set on our retro skins. While we figure out a way to send these two tyrants back to the broken code they spawned from, we’re kicking out a Legacy Vault sale to help keep retro skins out of their dastardly hands… and claws.

Here’s the info: Over the next week, 21 Legacy skins will go on daily sales at 50%, three at a time. And 21 current skins will be designated as New Legacy skins and also go on 50% off sales, three at a time. On August 30th 23:59 PDT, the Legacy Vault will open, and we’ll send all 42 retro skins in and away from those game goons.

These skins are available from now through August 30th at 23:59 PDT. At that time, they’ll all leave the store and head into the Legacy Vault. Every day for the next week, six of these skins will be on sale for 50% off.

This skin (Jaximus) features a memorial tribute to Joe, a Ewings Sarcoma patient who visited Riot thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation. Joe passed away on June 5, 2012. The movement quote for the Jaximus skin, Joe's favorite, was changed to "Here's to you, kid!" in his memory. I'll make sure he doesn't leave the store. A thought occurs to me though. What if we still tag him as Legacy, but he never leaves the store? This way, most of the year when there are no other Legacy skins available, he'll be the only skin that shows up under the 'Limited Availability' tag in the store, prompting people to ask their friends why. This way more League players will hear about Joe. Is that stupid? Is it just confusing? I'm just thinking out loud here.

For those complaining about how this is just a "cash grab" and how riot is being money-hungry, here's 2 things to think about.

Riot, last I checked, is a company. They have the LCS and equipment to afford, lighting/electricity (with so many servers, work computers, etc; can you imagine their electric bill?), salaries for their employees, and other expenses that they have to pay. League is a /free game/ and so letting people spend money on microtransactions (What's keeping them in business) isn't unreasonable.
SKINS ARE OPTIONAL!!! Nobody is forcing you to buy these skins. Riot isn't making league a pay-to-play game. Riot isn't making you, for example, have to buy any champions you're missing only with real life money. If they did, I guarantee Riot wouldn't have as big of a playerbase.

They're a company that needs to stay in business. I understand that all of these skins should make the people that already own them feel like they should get some sort of additional reward, but the fact you have a skin that now, nobody else can get for a really long time (I'm talkin' months, here.) should be a reward in and of itself.

Tl;Dr - Stop QQing. Riot's a business. Either buy the skins or don't. It isn't that hard not to complain about their business decisions.

slow clap Bravo bravo.... and just to add.. have nobody seen the server move project they're doing for NA? they are doing it so players have a more equal quality game play connection.... personally I'm quite impressed by the company and appreciative of a company whom thinks about their clients... currently I rock a 115 ish ping, and server move should cut that in half, so I say bravo to someone who can see more of then just themselves and the intellect to know to understand and voice their view.

I'm okay with Riot taking out skins like Toxic Mundo which are really horrible by today's standards, but many people still like Jaximus, Queen Ashe, and Obsidian Malphite. Now Malphite has 2 skins that are accessible; Mecha and Glacial Malphite. These are both fairly expensive skins, and it really is absurd considering he has a total of 6 skins, all of which bring something unique. The only one which deserves to be legacy is Shamrock, but putting skins on sale that look good and unique is absolutely a cash grab.

Rito breaking my heart. It took me forever to realize why, but now I see it so clearly. Riot gets rid of old skins to make them valuable but in return, how am I suppose to afford such expensive new skins? I'd rather pay for the old worthless ones if I wanted a skin. I could get more new looks that I liked.

(I'm also disappointed... All of Graves skins are awesome and I always wanted the Jailbreak one but I can't afford it right now.)
