Greetings Tacticians!

The big news this patch is the return of the ranked queue. On the balance front, we made a host of small changes and fixed a bunch of game-altering bugs. The method to our madness focuses on shifting some power into Tier 2 and Tier 3 three-star Champions while pulling some power from the stronger Tier 1 Champions. We’re glad we took the extra patch to get all of the new-set jitters out, but overall we’re really excited about the state of Rise of the Elements. There’s multiple paths to victory and each game plays out differently so good luck on your climb!

Three-Star Ability Scaling

We want to make sure that higher cost three-star Champions are an exciting power up worth the chase of getting them. This is already true for AD/HP scaling champs and Tier 1 Champions, but much less so for others. So, we’re buffing the three-star abilities for some Tier 2 and 3 Champions.

Tier 2

  • Jax Damage: 150/250/350 ⇒ 150/250/450
  • Leblanc Damage: 200/450/700 ⇒ 200/450/800

Bugfixes and the like

General

  • General improvements to melee unit pathing.
  • Spooky, invisible Woodland units no longer erroneously add to Trait bonuses
  • All PVE small monsters are now properly considered 1-star.
  • All summons are now properly considered 0-star.
  • Dragon/Elder Dragon/Rift Herald are now properly considered 3-star.
  • Ranged Berserkers (via Rapid Firecannon or Berserker’s Axe) now properly deal damage emanating in a cone from their target instead of themselves.
  • Fixed a few height bugs on Freljord Arenas. Items and champions should no longer get buried in the terrain.
  • The Electric trait no longer benefits from Ability Power, and no longer feeds into Hextech Gunblade.

Tier 1 Champions

  • Diana's orbs can no longer hit multiple targets each.
  • Kog’Maw's ability adjusted to miss far less often.
  • Renekton’s ability now properly deals Magic Damage (tooltip to be updated next patch).
  • Fixed healing text on Vlad to show the proper amount.
  • Zyra’s plants attack speed and duration now match their intended amount.
  • Zyra plants no longer occasionally hop into your bench.

Tier 2 Champions

  • Malzahar's minions attack speed now matches attack speed ratio. (This results in a slight reduction of Malz Minion AS)
  • Volibear’s ability now also restores him to full mana if a non-execute cast kills the target.

Tier 3 Champions

  • Azir no longer summons soldiers adjacent to untargetable units like Zyra plants.
  • Dr. Mundo won’t cast his ability when there’s nothing in range that it could hit.
  • Qiyana won’t cast her ability when there’s nothing in range that it could hit.
  • Clarified Veigar’s tooltip that it instantly kills lower star targets.
  • Veigar’s ability now executes non-champions if their star level is below his.

Tier 4 Champions

  • Annie can no longer gain mana if she summons two Tibbers (Mage’s Cap), then one of them dies.
  • Fixed Ashe’s three-star Scaling to be the intended 250% value
  • Fixed an issue where Ashe could not proc Blademaster while her ability was active
  • Fixed Olaf and Singed looking like they were glacial’d, even though they were still attacking

Tier 5 Units

  • Champions can now properly take damage from multiple poison trails created by different copies of Singed.
  • Zed’s clones now properly attribute damage to Zed in the damage tracker.

Items

  • Dragon's Claw now also reduces magic damage received from non-ability effects (Items, Traits, etc.)
  • Fixed Iceborn Gauntlet’s attack speed slow occasionally persisting across rounds
  • Inferno Cinder now properly works on: Renekton, Jax, Rek’Sai, Vayne, and Nami’s Tidal Wave empowered attacks
  • Spatula items now correctly no longer double the non-spatula component’s stats
  • Talisman of Light now correctly grants Magic Resist

Is it a bug that the leftmost unit on the bench is larger than the others? I've occasionally put incorrect items on big units placed on the leftmost spot (like 2* sion) because they are overshadowing where the items are placed.

The soft reset of MMR and hard reset of ranked makes no sense. I don't want to face plat players to get out of iron.

If someone loses, do their champs return to the champion pool. It sucks if you can't get a 3-star tier 5 champ because 2 people decided to hold onto 1-star versions...

Any thoughts on Annie? I watched a Tibbers 1v3, die a little later, only to respawn in 7 or 8 seconds (mana items on Annie). Idk. His health bar is the biggest I've seen in the game of any character regardless of items, and he's just a summoned bear. Seemed a little busted to me.

Thanks for making the element more clearly displayed on the initial carousel. And the update for the current stage progress bar is a nice to have.

Glad Olaf has been addressed already, that should be helpful.

Regarding Glacial "nerf": you could make it 1% chance and it wouldn't really matter because of the massive AS boosts, it's a duration stun, and the fact that random generators aren't truly random at all. For example, once it procs and you're stunned for 1.5s, with AS of 2+ you get 3 more attacks before the person can move. Each attack has a 20% chance of proccing which would then stun you again for 1.5s. All the while, stacking things like rageblade to increase the number of chances to restun you - resulting in permastun with no resistances and no saving throws. It's a horrible mechanic.

For the love of all that is holy and unholy, Olaf needs to be actually nerfed. 20 extra mana, that's all you think needs to happen? Yes, summoners are opaf, and light comps can get really broken. But it is a lot easier to pair Olaf with a ton of builds and he just shreds due to the extreme ease of getting glacial. Don't want to go berserkers? Fine, grab a titanic and Olaf gets the cone of freeze without having to go berserkers. It is ridiculous that around 60-70% of the TFT games I have been in with TFT 2.0 have had at least one Olaf heavy comp in the top 3. More often than not, it is two Olaf comps with either a summoner or a light comp as the third. I feel dirty that I have to draft him almost every game just to have a chance to win.

TFT IS TOO ONE SIDED SOMEONE GETS 6 ITEMS ON RAPTORS ANOTHER GETS 3 GOLD. IF Anything it should be 1 champion 1 item and gold on krugs, then 2 2 and gold then 2 2 and gold then dragons. its so unfair to see someone at 2-4 have a rageblade hextech and cleaver just so they can throw it on the olaf everyone picks up because if you give him healing his attack speed will reach 5.0 and hes virtually unstoppable. do something about this

Mages don't always correctly doublecast when you have 6. I have noticed this MANY Times...isn't it 100% chance?

The origins and classes are so unbalanced right now...I cannot believe how little attention was put on this. This set is terrible compared to the last. This coming from someone that really loves this mode (I know I'll play it regardless).

Spatula items now correctly no longer double the non-spatula component’s stats

I'm certain that the stat doubling of the item used with spatula was intentionally added towards the end of set 1, when/why did it become a bug?

you guys seriously need to nerf predator. Last several games I have been knocked out by them. No level 3 predators, while I have at least 2 of level 3 wardens. Not to mention you should look into the 25% instant death. I have had several units die at 50% to a predator. Once was a Braum 3 star with 2 thornmails and a warmogs......
