Explanation as to why so i don't sound whiney: This is like the output vs input randomness that the devs were talking about. The snowdown shop is random yes, but you know what you are going to get beforehand and can decide if its worth the money. However, this is a situation where we have no idea what we will get when we buy, and we have to hope. This is not a good way to do this.
Also, for those who think that we all who don't like this are hypocritical: most people who wanted hextech crafting wanted a way for us to use IP, even if very slowly, to get RP content (ie. skins, icons etc.). Making the special chests and envelope things RP exclusive is not a good use of the crafting system for the reasons we wanted the system at the beginning. Riot either A: keep this current system but make the envelopes purchasable with IP or B: get rid of this system and return to the old RP exclusive snowdown/lunar revel shop deal.

420SLPhoenix74 votesAt the end of the day Riot games is a business, so yea, they want money, and you buy goods you want from them, that's kinda how a free market system works. You can choose not to buy it if you don't, but if you do they have rights to capitalize on any profits they can.

If they didn't do this we'd probably have to pay a membership fee, or they'd have to use ads to stay open, and I don't know about you, but I'd much prefer not having to stop playing every 10 minutes to let an run so I can play, or having to pay a membership fee on top of having to pay for skins.
Resolution185 votesThe fact we got gambling in League now. We all knew the Chinese buyout way back when was going to cause a lot more focus on cash shop items (Introduction of chests/pay to play events, less focus on the community ect).
Would love for a Rioter to hop on the forums lately and actually see the general consensus of the direction they're going in. (Been playing since 2011 - and most of my friends are leaving -_-)

I still love the game, but I'll never have the fun that I once had playing League and I'll probably never spend anymore money on this game. If they're not willing to fix the problems with toxicity, cheating, and balance. I really don't see the point in investing money in it. They seem to care more about making new skins for champs that already have like 10 skins, than fix the aforementioned problems to make the game playable.

Even if you're willing to spend money, there's no real exciting value here. You randomly get these little trinkets that don't do anything until you get a bunch of them and still just turn into more random, unexciting stuff. It's all random and I learned pretty clearly from the winter chests that random stuff doesn't usually go my way (3 copies of galaxy azir, a skin i don't want from a champion i don't own or want to own when I wanted star guardian shards).

They have no issue whatsoever migrating over Hextech (which is a HUGE system relative to the shop), yet they can't code a few boxes with special discounts tied to your account? Sorry if I don't believe that. I'm pretty sure even I could program that in, and I'm not even a programmer.

My guess is they actually are working on making it again, but it is a low priority thing for a new client and honestly it is a shame that they didn't think that the majority of the community(at least the vocal ones), myself included, would be really disappointed that it didn't happen and that we were given little knowledge about at least things like legendary snowball or New Years
