2018 SEASON STARTS: JANUARY 16

This year you can earn a new Victorious skin for Graves, show off your end-of-season ranking, and get purrfect vision with a new Victorious ward skin. And, as promised earlier this year, we’re adding a small reward for fighting with Honor.

The 2017 season ends November 7. The 2018 season starts January 16.

We’re moving this flair from the border of the summoner icon (yes, this is something that exists) to front-and-center on your profile page.

This memento will last for all of next season, unlike your dreams of finally earning a Victorious skin.

A fresh new set of summoner icons, one per tier/queue combination, are ready for your collection. Joining them are the traditional ranked borders for the loading screen

You can earn up to three icons, one per ranked queue. Remember: Challenger in Twisted Treeline is still Challenger, no matter what anyone says!

VICTORIOUS WARD SKIN

Climb to Silver in more than one ranked queue to get your hands on 2017’s Victorious ward skin

We’re repealing and replacing the requirements for the Victorious ward and opening it up to folks who want to crush in multiple queues. While Victorious Graves is still locked at Gold, we wanted to spread rewards out to encourage your Silver V mid laner to actually use these things (for once).

HONOR REWARDS

We’ve decided on a new, exciting way to reward great teamwork, shotcalling and resilience in game: All honorable players walk away from the season knowing they’re good people, because fighting with Honor is its own reward.

Just kidding. Here’s what you actually earn:

HONOR WARD SKINS

Reaching Honor level 3 or higher at the end of the season grants you a unique ward skin based on your level

LEVEL 3

LEVEL 4

LEVEL 5

These ward skins have been significantly tested and researched, with our data demonstrating a 389% reduction in unsportsmanlike behavior.

FAQ

When does the season end?

The 2017 season ends November 7 at 23:59 local time. A game has to start before 23:59 to count towards your final ranking. However, the final Challenger ladder standing locks at 23:45, so make sure your game ends by then if you’re chasing those top spots!
When does the 2018 season start?

The 2018 season starts January 16, 2018.
When do rewards hit my account?

All rewards arrive within one month of the end of season (some rewards may appear faster than others, so don’t worry if you don’t get them all at once).
I don’t own Graves and I’m going to be Gold! Help!

If you don’t own Graves and you hit Gold+, we’ll unlock Graves alongside his skin for you.
Are ranked borders queue-specific?
Yeah! In case you're wondering about the non-ranked queues, check out the chart below. For example, if you get Gold in Flex, but Silver in Solo/duo, what border shows when you play a Normal SR? Or ARAM?
- Normal SR: Shows highest of Solo/Duo or Flex
- Normal TT: Shows TT Flex reward
- RGM/ARAM/Custom: Shows highest of any reward
- Co-op SR: Shows highest of Solo/Duo or Flex reward
- Co-op TT: Shows TT Flex reward
- Ranked Solo/Duo: Shows Solo/Duo reward
- Ranked Flex SR/Flex TT: Shows Flex reward, depending on SR or TT
Can I use my borders from previous seasons?

Nope, sorry. You gotta put in the time!
Where can I learn about preseason?

You’ll find everything you need to know on the Preseason 2018 site.
What happens to my rank in preseason?

Your rank won’t decay during preseason and you can still play through promotions and demotions (we’re turning rank decay off during preseason). When the new season starts, you’ll play 10 placement games and get seeded into a rank based on your MMR and placement performance.
Am I eligible for these rewards?

As we announced in August, certain players are ineligible for this season’s rewards:

- Players with bans or chat restrictions active when the season ends.
- Players issued a ban of seven days or more after 8/22/2017.
- Players banned for boosting during the 2017 season.

Players who experience fraud-related or erroneous bans will still be eligible.
What’s happening with physical Challenger rewards?

We heard your feedback on last year’s program. Quality, registration time, and shipping were all major pain points -- so we want to go back to the drawing board with physical Challenger rewards and make sure we can create something that feels good while also being practical to ship worldwide. We’ll have more info on this later this year.

I agree that we will probably only get one of the wards, but since there is a Riot wip mark on the wards the looks could change. I still like the blue and purple better than orange tho.

That's a great question. One that I'm very curious about, too. To be honest, I like the picture of the blue ward (Honor 3). All of them look pretty good, so I think I could accept having only the orange one. It'd be a pity.

I feel like the feathers on the wards should have been 1 feather for honor lvl 3, 2 feathers for lvl 4, and all the feathers (3) for level 5. Kinda just makes more sense.

I do hope we get all three of the wards. I REALLY like the honour 4 one myself, and say I did wan't to get it I would have to be toxic or afk/leave games to do it. :/ I won't do that, but just saying if there is anyone else like me who does want a lower level honour reward than what they have, their ideals may not be the same as mine and they could be toxic to get it.

It would be awesome if they reward you for every honor rank you surpassed. So when you end season at honor level 5, you have the level 3, 4 and 5 wards.

Firstly, this made me chuckle and I thank you.

Secondly I think Graves is a fine choice. I remember him being an (annoyingly) strong jungler ganking me (never for me of course) earlier this season. I also just happen not to have a skin for him yet, and have been looking to try out the new runes with him. So I am ready to feed, I mean experiment with glacial augment and/or dark harvest Graves in style now.

Graves had a huge impact this season. Though he's not as relevant as he was before, his impact is bigger than the current tank junglers, who have only been around for a few months.

How about if I prefer the color of the level 4 honor ward skin? Can I get the honor 4 ward skin also or do I have to get my honor to drop? Don't get me wrong I like honor 5, but I'm more of a fan of the color purple than orange.

I am currently honor 5, but I like the honor 3 ward the better than the honor 5 ward. Will I be granted access to both ward skins or tough luck because I am too nice?

Riot, I don't need ward skins. Nobody needs ward skins. I already have the riot ward skin, so I'm never gonna use another ward skin again, i fell my honor 5 is completely worthless and i feel gypped that my honor is getting reset with no real reward. (I got the ward skin off of cosplaying kindred at a convention).

How about Riot rewards better behavior in a more meaningful way that will encourage less toxic behavior overall....having good behavior devalued in such a way as making honor levels mean nothing than a glorified ward chroma, thats not going to encourage good behavior at all.

To be specific thats going to encourage less good behavior since the rewards for it are not worth the effort. If ranked gets better rewards with higher levels, the same should be done for honor system. This aint a charity where a give away my moral cares so easily.

So wait. I busted my ass to get Gold in both Qs, only to find out the reward isn't extra, it's the ward skin that you get for being in silver? That is super disappointing. Getting to Gold in both Qs was basically worthless. There is no reward for leveling both Queues.

You receive both borders and the one that shows depends on the queue that you're in.
