Rift Rivals Hits the Rift

Riot·Jun 29, 2017·4 votes·52,277 views

Regions across the world will take on their fiercest rivals for bragging rights, pride and eternal (until next year) glory during the first ever Rift Rivals. Show your support for these regional grudge matches by purchasing a Rift Rivals icon for 1 IP in the store. If your home region comes out on top, you’ll also be awarded an exclusive, gilded event icon.

The five regional Rift Rivals icons will be available in the store from June 29 at 7:00 AM PT (July 3 in China) until July 11 at 7:00 AM PT.

Every player in a winning region who equips any Rift Rivals icon and plays a game by the end of the tournament will also receive an exclusive, gilded winners’ icon to commemorate the victory. This icon will be delivered directly to each player’s account within two weeks of the end of the tournament.

Grab yourself a Rift Rivals icon and cheer on your favorite teams as we settle the score between fierce rivals around the world! Click here for more info on when, where, and how to watch.

We have fixed this in the store, all of the icons should be 1 IP in the store now!

How much will the winner's icon cost?

i dog playerJul 3, 20172 votes

Never mind LOL.

Vhan8765Jun 29, 201711 votes

Just checked; there is no 1 IP icon up in the store currently.

feelsbadman I honestly really enjoy the IP icons.

Your QueenJun 29, 20174 votes

Yeah logged in just to post that all I see is 250rp ones.

They just fixed it

How Do You MetaJun 29, 20178 votes

Too bad I don't live in Korea

FrosteJun 29, 20176 votes

I live in NA. Can I equip the Korean Icon and get the winners' icon when they win?

KrittyJun 29, 20175 votes

The way I read it, you have to be playing in the region that wins to get the gilded icon, but can show support to any region you would wish.

TrayvenJun 30, 20171 votes

Sadly you can't. You can support them, but only the people in Korea will get the winners' icon. Only the people in the winning region get the winners icon. This is different from MSI.

JUST1CEJul 2, 20171 votes

I believe that EU and NA are facing off so you don't have to worry about Korea dunking NA

NewerthianJun 29, 20175 votes

So if I'm understanding this correct being from NA I will only get the winner's icon if NA wins in EU vs NA right?

And I won't get the winner's icon if I buy the rift rival icon for another region's match up.

timmmmmm69Jun 29, 20172 votes

Yeah, so you won't get an icon. At least us EU players will get another icon.

KrittyJun 29, 20178 votes

Awww, isn't that cute. An EU player so concerned about Rift Rivals that he has to bolster his petty ego by putting down those "lowly" NA players in their own comments.

Have a nice life, kid.

Piccolo SenpaiJul 8, 20173 votes

How does it feel now that EU has lost in an almost embarrassing fashion?

MelinduhJun 29, 20173 votes

I'm wondering the same thing... like does the system determine who is in the region by the icon bought? Or by another way such as user location. I'd like to buy all the icons; but am unsure if I'd receive the winner's icon if my region wins.

Skins ProjectJun 29, 20173 votes

But.... I like purple...

Plz no hurt me....

BabyNaixJun 29, 20173 votes

What are the chances that NA can actually beat EU though. OR what are the chances that TSM can beat G2.

GizmodukJun 29, 20171 votes

g2 vs tsm will be good, but c9 is possibly stronger right now(we will find out this weekend) and p1 is doing quite poorly. FNC is going to stomp p1 probably, c9 will beat UOL and depending on this weekends result i would put TSM at a disadvantage vs g2. g2 vs tsm is basically who plays worse on the big stage.

theskyrageJun 30, 20173 votes

Can you somehow make it so that you can actually TELL which icon is for which regions? Cause after you buy the icons, there is no quick and easy way of finding out which icon is which region. They all look the exact same, and I highly doubt any of us actually remembers which colour is for which region. The only way that I know of to check is to go back to this page, or go to your store, checkmark the show owned icons, and look from there.

King ZedJun 30, 20173 votes

[zombie-brand-facepalm] yeah... its called looking in purchase history... or like you said, going to this page... these are both the "quick and easy way of finding out which icon is which region"...

A Day Late GhostJun 29, 20171 votes

This is a completely tone-deaf event in regards to Riot preaching for better conduct from its player-base.

Warlord ScrapJun 29, 20175 votes

How so. Theres a difference between regional rivalries and being racist.

DrCyanideJun 29, 20171 votes

I root for the EU LCS over the NA LCS, despite living in NA. Is there a way for me to get a gilded event icon if the EU LCS wins?

KrittyJun 29, 20174 votes

From the way the post reads, only players that play in the region will get the gilded icon, so you would have to be on EU to get it if EU wins.

BeautifulDeerJul 3, 20171 votes

G2 took a game off of SKT T1 at MSI, I am fairly sure they are ready for this one. But maybe their ego from that can get the best of them.

awkward

FlamboyantFalconJun 30, 20171 votes

So, can I buy multiple (one for looks and one for my region) or will I be blocked from buying any others once I buy one? Figured I'd ask beforehand just in case I can only buy one and I find out the hard way.

You can buy all of them.

Right on. Thanks, my dude.
