Fiora lunges onto live

Riot·8/3/2015, 7:12:39 PM·7 votes·47,324 views

After dueling all challengers on PBE, Fiora’s ready to bring her updated moves and model over to live. The update’s a pretty hefty one, with gameplay changes designed to make her feel like more of a skilled fencer, and model tweaks that bring her up to today’s standards. Check out Fiora’s PBE article for the full gameplay changes or scroll on down for some - as she would say - pretty pictures!

To celebrate the Grand Duelist’s update, we’re bundling Fiora with her skins together and slashing the price. Her Duelist’s Dream bundle cuts in at 1796 RP (20% off) or 2500 RP if you need the champion, lasts through 23:59 August 11 and includes the following:

  • Fiora
  • Royal Guard Fiora
  • Nightraven Fiora
  • Headmistress Fiora

There's lots of hate in the comments. People who are happy with change don't voice their opinion nearly often enough. So I will. I love the new Fiora. She's just as dangerous as ever, except now she actually takes some skill and practice. She has a new escape, a wall jump, percent true damage, a guaranteed crit...and it actually feels like i'm dueling with someone instead of hitting a nuke button when I press R. You guys did good work Riot. Forget the haters.

Meanwhile, Im only just content with getting her normal colored hair streaks back.Fiora

One thing I noticed that I told myself to keep an eye on: They listened to player feedback and kept the hair the same style! :D I'm glad about this, and she looks more fun to play than just facerolling the keyboard and winning. % true damage? Yeah, that's pretty OP, but it's a reward for playing skillfully.

Anyone else think of the girl from Ratatouille when they saw this?

Linna Excel8/6/2015, 11:07:01 PM16 votes

She should have gotten a traditional skin.

Alright, here's the skinny, unbiased truth of it. I am not a Fiora Main, I nly bought her like, a month before this update, but its obvious what and why Riot did stuff

Fiora , while maybe poessiving of an incredibly strong ultimate pre-rework, was the ONLY champion to never be played in ANY LCS.

Her passive, while seemingly good for skirmishes, wasn't seeing much use. Her Lunge, while useful to keep up to an enemy, was only enemy targeted and thus horrible escape. While the power passive on her W was good, the bact that it only blowed physical attacks made her limited as to what champions she could duel effectively. Her e was great for taking down towers and trading and the ult was amazinzg... but in the end that just made her a champion that you HAD to do amazing on in order to scale strongly into late game.

Ad champs like Fiora, Tryn, and the like don't see much play because of their item dependcies, and at least Tryn has his ultimate to escape death. Fioras ult made you return near the enemy on his.. which meant they could collapse, and dead duelist.

The new rework, after a few games on her, definatly brings that feel of dueling. You won't hit her passive all the times, but your lunge will help with that later game, and now she can null out more than just physical attacks, even stunning, which is easy enough to predict 'just w that thresh hook for a stun. Her E...ya, its a little worse as far as tower pushing goes but its great for both chasing and getting that extra Dueliest Dance Proc. Her ultimate is designed to reward you and your team for helping her get that extra damage off.

She's still as deadly as before, and i hope she will finally see some LCS time

Good Job Riot. Looking forward to more of your reworks

I've never posted on the forums before. But I wanted to speak up and let the designers know that i feel they've ruined my favorite champion. Not only did this re work nerf Fiora into the ground from an offensive and defensive perspective, it also took away all the fun of her play style. Its really a bummer to log in and find that you no longer get to play the game the way you want to. I know there are many champions to choose from but Fiora was already not viable in competitive play, so why do this?

ash rift8/6/2015, 7:18:09 PM14 votes

Fiora I have nothing good to say about these changes. Why "fix" something that isn't broken? This update makes me want to quit playing the game as it is a huge nerf to my favorite champion.

Novahunterz8/6/2015, 10:39:35 PM14 votes

Why do her models look uglier? I thought this was a upgrade not a downgrade.

TheStabulous8/7/2015, 4:14:31 PM13 votes

I'd like to point out that everyone who applauds the update mention things like, "I can't wait to try it out!" and "I've never played her but..." While everyone who rejects it say "I used to main her", "I'll never play her again" and "I'm done with Riot" etc.

Døughnut8/6/2015, 7:27:20 PM11 votes

She looks like a man or is that me...

TheStabulous8/7/2015, 4:57:12 PM10 votes

The shot-caller mini game is a great idea, but needs work.

Her ultimate requires you to spend 8 seconds prancing around an opponent trying hit them from every side, while they still only need to press 'R' to hurt you really bad. If she only had to hit 1 mark, that's still more than everyone else has to do.

The reward for actually pulling off her ultimate is anticlimactic to the point of insult. Considering what you have to accomplish, it should result in a penta, 5000 gold, and having a special splash/skin unlocked where an otherwise nude Fiora proudly exhibits a gold medal that modestly censors her bellybutton.

Countering her ult is as simple as running by a wall. Even if she uses flash she'll be lucky to hit 2 of the 4 marks, assuming they even register.

Her run animation is silly.

Riposte isn't a riposte at all, but rather some kind of 'shot' which doesn't even require an incoming attack to trigger.

She's nothing more than a feeder now.

Tbh i don't like the new Fiora. I went from a dominating Fiora into a feeding Fiora lol. I would really prefer the old Fiora back if possible ever. I just recently bought her and was happy with the old her until the update which made me regret buying her.

I spent a lot of time learning how to play Fiora. She was one of the most misunderstood champions because on the surface she seemed overly simple and one-dimensional, but that couldn't be further from the truth. It took time as Fiora to learn every matchup, Mid and Top. I was best at Fiora mid because I was aggressive pathing assasin and could dodge skillshots well. Many 100 games later, I began to learn her top. Her aggressive style, her red hair, her ability to do so much damage as she almost died. Riot, what did you do!?!?!?!

Fiora was one of the only reasons you've kept me in this game so long. The gameplay got stagnate, but the challenge of playing Fiora was so great, and so rewarding. Now her kit puts her no-where. She's a top laner with a strong level 1 and 2, and no ability to teamfight or snowball. She isn't a split pusher; she isn't a duelist; she isn't a healer; she isn't a teamfighter.

I liked Fiora because she was one of those melee carries who could take turrets, duel, and, if your team was good, you could TEAMFIGHT. You've made her a BAD duelist and a BAD teamfighter. There's NO reasons to pick her.

I have about 2 games left in me before I quit this game for good. I just don't know what to say; I am completely disenfranchised.

I have to admit, I don't weigh in topics I'm interested in nearly as much as I should in the Riot posts, but I couldn't help but come here to the comments of this opening page to state that I'm very displeased with this release. To begin, I don't necessarily think that Fiora is in a bad place. I find it interesting that many people complain about her current kit when there are so many ways to counter it (either with a build or with a specific champion), plenty of ways for people to be either advanced or sloppy with her, and plenty of ways to end up in an "Oh ****!" situation for messing up. Contrary to what a lot of people say, I don't often see a "bad" player faceroll people with Fiora. I see MUCH more of that with _Master Yi _MasterYi than I do Fiora.

And before everyone starts bringing down the ELO card on me, I'd like to note that you really don't see much of any of the "hard OP carries" in the higher elos like you do in Plat I or above, and that's simply because they are either managed much better by the higher skilled playerbase, or there are simply much fewer people who prefer to advance with them since they have moved on to higher skill/higher reward champions such as Rumble, or Gnarr. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with any of the champs-- infact, only a handful usually see the LCS on any given season due to how strong they are from a Riot gamestyle change or a specific global tweak that really made them shine. I think Fiora is a good example of a champion that could've and should've stayed exactly where she was.

Her ult also seemed relatively fair to me the way it was, and infact-- it almost punished her for being a bad position and derping the button too soon or just jumping the gun, it was almost guaranteed death. Her dash is not overly ridiculous, and requires careful thought about whether you will dash twice during the duel, dash to the enemy then back to the enmy minion behind you, and don't even get me started about thinking on how to use it for positioning in a 5v5. It all seems pretty simple until you get into the thick of it. W, again, counterbalanced her squishy-ness for a great AD ratio, and the active made for a unique mechanic, working especially well in synergy with her passive. To be honest, it's one of the cooler push-and-pull mechanics I've seen on a champion, even if it was simple. And her e rounded things out very well, focusing on simple attack speed boost with a few nice perks rather than a rather cheap double hit every few strikes with a button-press true damage follow up (shrug, Yi is cheap).

And honestly, to round everything out-- her new model doesn't look nearly as elegant or poised as the old one, and that "rapier" (which is basically now a basket-hilt longsword, suited more for frontline combat than dueling) looks like a _horrid ___ dueling weapon, from which one with lore such as Fiora would probably never use to dance around an enemy or blade waltz. All this focus on the true weapon aside, her outfit looks like something from Star Trek, not a "duelist"'s outfit. The long cape side I understand, but those shoulder pauldrons? Sorry, I don't really think so. And her Nightraven (formerly my favorite of the bunch) skin looks like the ugly cartoon version of Cruella De Vil (if you don't know who I'm talking about highlight the name and "Search for image"). There was nothing wrong with her old model, and there was nothing wrong with her old splash art. It wasn't outdated like Miss Fortunes, and the textures weren't terrible. They obviously aren't Tahm Kench level, but when there are champs like LeBlanc still running around (despite their texture update) I think Fiora still looked great. I say confidently that I think the new design was rushed, and not very well thought out as it pertains to the essence of the character.

I'm not one of those guys who sits in the back complaining about everything, but I felt very strongly about this rework, and as such I have stated above everything I dislike about it. I'm fine with change, and I think of all the online games I've played in the past 12 years of my life RIOT has done the best job of balancing a solely competitive online game of any company I have ever seen (Yeah, you too Blizzard). I enjoy that they are actively evolving the game, but lately it seems like a lot of changes are being rushed, and things are getting just a bit sloppy. This is one in particular that I was gonna let skim by without finally getting on and saying something about it.

Sorry for the long post, I hope you actually read all of it though.

Sincerely, Knightfall IX ~ A faithful player.

New ult sucks! It is way to hard to circle around someone to get the last vital, even with move speed and furor it is still to hard, i get the ult off maybe once or twice in a game. All anyone has to do is step away, not run off, just step away and the ult does nothing .

FundoMundo8/8/2015, 5:45:27 PM4 votes

What I've seen with the new rework, is that when you ult someone and auto them, they just run the other way to protect at least one vital, and throw a mediocre slow and escape. The movement speed bonus in her kit is great and all, but it just gets countered by boots, or some basic mobility spells. I love how her q can be used as an escape but its on such a short range it rarely makes a difference. Her w is one of the easiest skills to dodge imo, unless you are planted into the ground like a potato, seeing her take a second to strike at you, simply walking to the side counters it. Playing her in team fights either one of three things will happen:

  1. you ult the biggest threat, and they flash.
  2. you get close to the front line and are burst down out before you can retaliate.
  3. you ult someone and they are blind to you, and you kill the target and then your team runs out of your heal area and gets killed before there time.

I love Fiora, I'm going to still play her, but for right now I feel she is really unreliable. That might just be that I am awful at working well with my team, I consistently make the wrong decisions with her, or my team doesn't know how to work with me.

FlameHalbrdOkido8/8/2015, 11:01:30 PM3 votes

I just wanna say that a lot people always say what they don't like about something and then nothing else. They don't offer what they don't like or what they would like. This confuses the heck out of the person who just gave up something for free, because they don't know how to change it.

Guys be problem solvers not problem identifiers. Cuz guess what the people who can solve the problems are the ones that get what they want.

Don't let your dreams be dreams. If you dream of a "better" Fiora then give life to that dream. Let the world know what your dream Fiora can DO. JUST DO IT!!!

I dare anyone of you to come up with a legit quality suggestion to make a change or improvement to anything actually important about the new Fiora.

If none of you can then please just be quite and stop filling my community wi toxic sludge.
