Hextech Crafting soon debuts on PBE

We’re just about ready to start testing loot and Hextech Crafting. Tomorrow, January 13, we’ll be introducing the new system to the PBE. We wanted to create a new way for players to unlock cosmetic content and champions, so we’re introducing a new system in 2016. Our two goals are to recognize and reward great performances in League and provide a way to pick up randomized loot at large discounts.

On Wednesday, Rioters behind Hextech Crafting, loot, and the upgrade to Champion Mastery rewards will be chatting about the design and testing of the new system, so head over to the Hextech Crafting and Loot Q&A at 11 AM PST on January 13, 2016 for even more info on the newest way to grow your League collection over time.

Thing is about ARAM is: Champion mastery compares you to how well you do compared to other players playing that champion, so if they do that for ARAM, grades could be all over the place. Riot IS however trying to figure out how to do champion mastery on ARAM, so don't worry friend. It will come. But nobody knows when.

Unfortunately, Riot's also said they're "trying to figure out" how to reward good Dominion players without adding ranked. About a year and a half later, Riot's still "trying to figure it out."

Rito give you a great free game with no ads and you're bitching because they only offer you "discounts" on cosmetic changes. Riot needs to make money they are a business they don't owe you anything. Giving huge discounts is exceptionally generous in my opinion.

You do realize how much money they make outside of the game itself right? Skins bring in money but everything such as events and merch rake in the cash way more than skins ever will.

Hate to burst your bubble friend, but in 2014 Riot earned over 1 Billion USD in microtransactions worldwide. And last year the estimates were like 1.25 Billion USD in microtransactions. Most of the events they lose money on actually. (With the exception of the international events.) And I don't know about you, but I don't think the merch stores brings in 1 Billion + USD a year.

You know what game is also free? Dota. You know what you don't have to pay for in Dota? Every champion that gets released. You know what you get? Free drops. You know what else you get? Cases that can be opened for a ridiculously small price that give you a chance of a great item. You know what isn't on Dota? Ads. As if that freaking matters.

You know what a great cheap game is? CS:GO. You know what you get? Free cosmetic drops. You know what else you get? Cases that can be opened for a small price that have a chance of being worth hundreds. You know what else you get? A company that is willing to admit that they made a huge mistake and change it in a matter of days, not a company that thinks something "is an embarrassment, but the team refuses to acknowledge it."

Maybe get some common sense before being a free PR puppet for Riot. Please.

Since I'm either blind or I can't edit my post:

This is coming from someone that has liked and played League for well over 4 years now. You know what the game has degraded to? "League of How Much Money Can We Make From LCS and New Champion Releases".

You know what's a problem right now? Thunderlords. You know what hasn't been addressed in the last 4 patches? Thunderlords. You know whose been a problem for the last 3 seasons? Rengar. You know who hasn't been addressed? Rengar. You know who's been (debate-able here) broken since release? Lee Sin. Still no notable patch to bring him into line. This can be said for a large amount of champs.

Instead of sitting here and blindly praising a company for making a "free game that gouges you every step they can" how about you realize that the amount of flaws that are piling on to of the company outweigh the fact that I can install the game for free but HAVE to pay if I want to experience the game. Especially if I am a new player and don't want to play 50 hours a week for 3 months just to hit level 30.

There are MANY free games out there that actually do it well. Riot's system was great when the game first came out, and it deserved praise. Valve and many other companies that make the risk of being free to play have much better consumer friendly systems that don't rip your wallet open for every little damn thing.

Thunderlord's hasn't even existed for 4 patches yet. And it's only been a problem for 1 patch. It was bugged on the release patch.

Secondly, Rengar isn't broken, there are plenty of ways to counter him. Admittedly vision nerf helps Rengar immensely, he's still (mostly) the same bush-jumping knifecat he was before preseason. And don't you dare say you've been playing this game for 4 years and then say Rengar has never been addressed. He has been the center of so many nerfs and mini-reworks and buffs because they overnerf him.

And if you're going to call Lee Sin broken, you're severely mis-informed. He is very strong, and has been since release. And through damage nerfs, Lee stays in play because of his huge utility. If Lee is broken because of his utility, let's look at Thresh who is on the same boat as Lee. Would you call Thresh broken?

There are many free games out there, but none have achieved even remotely the same fame and renown of League. And there is plenty of reason for that. But you talk up valve like they're some god-tier company. But they aren't. You're just a fanboy that is upset about something that happened to you in League. Probably a chat restriction or ban. No need to take it out on other people. Have a nice year.

To unlock your chests, you have a chance to randomly pick up a key each time you win any matchmade game and winning with friends results in finding more keys than going solo.

For those who just want to pick up content at a significant discount, we’re offering chests and keys individually in the store. All chests contain random loot worth more than the cost of the chest (well, depending on how you feel about Teemo) so you can purchase with the confidence of knowing you’re getting a good deal (but a direct purchase from the store will still be the best way to pick up specific items).

TL;DR You CAN get completely free stuff, or buy cheaper stuff. Best of both.

where do you all see this!? LOL I clicked the link and I saw nothing about discounts except the keys and chests being at discounted price. You collect shards from chests and you redeem them for a perm champ OR if you wanna redeem early before collecting all the needed shards...you get a limited time champ.
