I used to do this with Pink wards on Veigar back before they removed pink trinket. I miss the cookie baits...
Does it count as a vision trap if you put a ton of 
shrooms in a lane and put a pink ward in the middle?
the zzrot bait for sure, it almost always gets a squishy and i main chogath, get an aa, knockup,aa, silence, aa until low, ulti, works everytime

Favorite way to bait? One of my friends plays Teemo, I play Reksai. He surrounds tunnel entrances with shrooms and we wait for enemy to try to clear them. Shrooms are frequently enough to kill squishies, and if not I can teleport to the tunnel and finish the job.
