In the southern part of Runeterra lie the unconquered eastern jungles of Shurima. Within its sprawling, vast overgrowth of beast and flora are secrets waiting to be uncovered and claimed. But, here in the jungle, all is not as it seems—is there a beast among the trees, or, perhaps, is the jungle itself stirring?

At the Edge of the World

After years serving in the Noxian military, Commander Tomyri has finally received her own command. She is ordered on her first expedition: to claim the Kumungu Jungle in the name of the Noxian Empire.

Neeko, fleeing destruction and cataclysm, has arrived in Harelport. She must now come to terms with the loss of her homeland while learning to communicate in a world she is curious to explore.

Neeko: The Monster of Kalduga Outpost

Late at night, Neeko discovers a Noxian outpost deep in Kumungu. As is to be expected of her curiosity, she decides to investigate the area to uncover the true nature of the Noxians and why they are there.

Nidalee: Updated Bio

Nidalee, Neeko, Kumungu

A human child raised by an adopted family of cougars in the Kumungu jungle, the now bestial Nidalee defends her pack from any who would do them harm.

Driven by desire to protect the only home she knows. ⇒ Encounters with Rengar’s tribe, the Kiilash, caused the death of her adopted mother. Nidalee decides to travel across Runeterra to avenge her mother while learning more about her true origins.

Nidalee comes to the rescue of a captured vastaya, drawing blood and giving a dire warning to his human captor. The taste of blood still lingers, and the time for the hunt is now.

Zyra: Updated Bio

Zyra, Kumungu

Zyra originates from deep within the jungles of Kumungu. She travels Runeterra, defending the lands from the blight of mortals by any means necessary.

The plant called Zyra has transferred its consciousness into a human body. When a sorceress appears in Kumungu, the now humanoid Zyra absorbs her powers, deciding to from now on use her new vessel to further her own goals. ⇒ Zyra, now with newfound vitality, is overcome with rage and contempt at the state of Runeterra. She wanders the world, overrunning settlements and crushing any Mortal that would show disrespect to the lands, always leaving a menagerie of botanical horrors in her wake.

Rengar lives for the thrill of the hunt. He travels across Runeterra, seeking revenge on Kha’Zix, the Void creature who scratched out his eye.

Nice to be able to see all the lore changes at once instead of having to frequently check everywhere across Universe. Also gives a bit more visibility to the lore that's being added for those that may not normally check out lore.

I love the lore entries and found them amazing but personally have 2 gripes with them, one is small and another is more personal

1: I feel like just making Kumungu Jungle part of Shurima is lazy and unimaginative, I feel like it would be so much greater as another region, maybe with a more Aztecan feel, of people trying to survive the jungle and feel like it cuts of creativity just making them part of Shurima.

2: This is more personal, but I am sadden by the Art in Nid's short story, not cause I don't like it, or cause I hate it, but because I like both of them so much and yet KNOW that it will make a clash between players that can't accept both design's as being good, like I love how you made her look, but at the same time love how she currently is, and Personally feel like she doesn't need to change, I know many people use arguments like "How can you take her seriously" or "but its unrealistic" but in a world with magic and such its not hard to believe while at the same time I can't believe you one can downplay a character simply for how they dress, like, if I clown went to a police station saying he was assaulted they would need to take him seriously, if a prostitute said she was raped we as humans would need to be there for support not for their jobs, occupation or anything else but as humans willing to support one another, and I know these are characters in a fictional world but if you can't believe the clothes they were or how they look how can you see it like that that part. I want both design's, yet I am sad that RIOT felt the need to change her for the short story just for people to take her more serious.

Kumungu is part of the continent of Shurima, not the Empire of Shurima. It is as much a separate region as Demacia and Noxus, which are both on the continent of Valoran.

Or, it would be, if Kumungu had its own Region page.

You are correct but I am mostly speaking in the champions Universe page as how it shows the region they align with being "Shurima" and not Kumungu Jun. I felt like if they decided to make it its own region it would be so much more interesting is what I meant.

Sry if I made it a bit vague I did not mean it by just geographically.

No, not at all, thanks for clarifying. I didn't realize they were listed as "Shurima", that's kind of a shame. I would've even preferred they not have it at all. After checking now, of them, only Rengar is on the "Shurima" page, either, so it's inconsistent besides.

In "Human Blood," The reptilian Vastaya, Kuulcan, states that Nidalee called the man "human." But nowhere in that story does she have dialogue where she calls anyone "human." Was something cut or were words missing? It's kind of pivotal to the point of the story that Kuulcan bring up her use of a word she didn't actually use around him.

Thanks for the call out here! This was an editorial mistake; originally, she did say the word "human", hence the reaction. We're going to work on correcting it.

Love the idea of Lore patch notes!

One big question:

Nidalee decides to travel across Runeterra to avenge her mother while learning more about her true origins.

That wasn't reflected in the stories we got today, will there be more coming?

Also, was this post-Neeko? I thought the reason she didn't go with Neeko is because she didn't want to leave the jungle.

I assume you mean "At the Edge of the World"? For now it's not linked to the Noxus page, but I can see how that could make sense.

The story is available on the Universe homepage, and can also be found under Explore -> Short Stories or on the Runeterra Map!

Yes, sorry, that is the one I meant. As much as possible, I'd like it if stories would be linked directly from a Region or Champion page, since I get the impression most players will be more likely to find them that way in the future. Having it on the map is a close second to that, as well. :)

Ah, okay! Yeah I think that one, for example, could be linked to the Noxus Region page, but also to a "Jungle" Region page, if one existed. I think that's potentially why you don't see it living in any one region, as it technically is a Jungle story. I'll make sure to pass that feedback along to the Universe team though!

With champions, though, we do link the stories usually. For example, on Nidalee's page, you can find a link to her new short story, "Human Blood".

Yep! The original Rengar stories came out before the release of Kha'Zix, so they never mentioned him by name. He was always referred to as a "Void Creature" before, but the relationship is more fleshed out now.
