Big Plays Spotlight: Shiphtur’s surprise Shockwave

Riot··4 votes·3,700 views

Welcome to the Big Plays Spotlight! In this feature, we highlight the most epic plays, from meticulously-coordinated early tower dives to mind-blowing escapes from one side of the Rift to the other.

In the best-of-five promotion series between Team Coast and compLexity Black, Coast was down 0-2 but in complete control of Game 3. As soon as Coast’s Daydreamin landed his Dark Binding under compLexity’s bot inner turret, ZionSpartan and Shiphtur immediately set their sights on the conflict while the rest of Coast baited the drawn-out engagement. Watch Shiphtur’s over-the-wall Flash Shockwave delete compLexity’s main damage dealers for a near-instantaneous double kill.

We’d love to feature your biggest plays, so post a link in the comments below or submit your clip here!

I feel really bad for coast they are a great team and usually do well but they couldn't get it together this season I guess :/ League of legends is more about teamwork now so the one man Ahri / Orianna / Ziggs carry is not as effective as it used to be.

For the promotion tournament, Shiptur has been down in CS for the most part against prolly. Zion has been the one getting fed.

Zion and Shiptur both should stay in the LCS, Dig Shiptur, CLG ZionSpartan?

Mr Fisti3 votes

I'd prefer it, honestly, if ZionSpartan went to CLB. I think he's at least 4 or 5 times as good as WestRice, and his entire team saw that. Imagine what a team like that, that was winning 4v4 the majority of the time, could do with a strong solo laner like Zion?

Funk Enterprize2 votes

@ Mr Fisti However, Westrice was hailed by CLB as one of the main components of their victory, despite the flak fans give him. There's no way that they'll trade him. I actually think that for Zion, this is the end for him unless he wants to join a challenger team.

You were SO close to being exactly right XD

They are now both in Dignitas! :D Those two deserved to be in the LCS. I think they'll do quite well in Dignitas --> http://www.team-dignitas.net/articles/news/League-of-Legends/5113/Team-Dignitas-signs-Shiphtur-and-ZionSpartan/ (source)

Gonna have to disagree with you on the latter statement. Coast is good, but the one man team is what I disagree with. First, Orianna is not a one man carry, she's literally the perfect example of a teamfight mage. her shield, speed/slow, AoE flip CC, etc, makes her what she is.

Secondly, many of the one man carries, as you call it, exist competitively. Lulu was until she got the nerf hammer, LeBlanc is still stupidly strong, and I would say the Syndra featured in even this game is that one man carry example.

Nevertheless, RIP coast.

Maximum Jarvan2 votes

I think his real point was that Nintendudex, and WhiZFujin were too heavy to carry.

2 man carry. Don't forget Zion.

Zion threw harder than an NFL Quarterback.

Coast has been my favourite team for a long time now, and it was really sad to watch this series.

They knew they could beat complexity, but they just weren't in it. Shiphtur played terribly and lost lane nearly every game to pr0lly.

I heard from Daydreamin that Shiphtur had stopped giving his 100% in scrims and was stopping talking to the team when they lost to Dignitas in the playoffs. I guess the team was falling apart.

Really hope that Zion gets picked up by CLG, but he doesn't really fit with CLG's playstyle and strategies.

I feel like CST were the better team. They should have won games 1 and 4, which would make the score 3-1 CST. They just threw. If Complexity should have lost those two games against Coast, a team which did poorly this season, it makes me question how well they will actually perform in the LCS.

That's as scarra said: up until they lose, they are winning

I feel like if CLB didn't turn around game one it would've been a 3-1 split in favor of Coast.

JurBurr2 votes

I hope shiphtur and Zion both get another chance on an LCS team, Zion split pushing was the only real play Coast had.

If only half of the league players I get on my team thought like this team did when they waited for super minions to push in to assault the towers. (edited because Idk wtf I wrote before.)

Asahina Katsuo1 votes

I think what you're trying to say is: "If only half of the players I get on my team played the way they do once super minions are attacking us, we'd be a lot better off." If so, I would agree. I feel that players wait too long to start playing..."well." They see someone go "manmode" and think they can too. 90% of the time, don't go man mode because you can't, you're just gonna feed. But, there are still a few testosterone-laiden meatheads who think they're pro and are going to do it anyway...

90% of the player base think that because they have 1 or 2 good games a day they are pro

This Exactly. People don't use the graphs at the end of the game to see the actual impact they had on the game. It's a wonderful feature and everyone needs to learn to use it. I'm getting so tired of people calling me a scrub or saying I ks. Look at the graphs, they don't lie. When I have the highest dmg overall to enemy champions, it means I did the majority of the work. In other words, "you" (the person complaining) probably wouldn't have secured that kill on your own. Which brings me to my next point: kills don't mean you're good. Damage does, and even then it depends on the role. I understand most of them are probably uneducated and don't understand how statistics and data work. I don't fully understand most of it myself, but I did learn how to properly interpret graphs in stats 101, and they should too.

lol they highlight the loosers? since when? CLB made some awesome plays, Brokenshard, Prolly or Westrice deserve the spot light.

C9 Shiptur?!?Ahri Orianna Ziggs

That would be a terrible idea in my opinion. Not only is Hai mechanically Shiphtur's equal, if not his superior, Hai's shotcalling and general teamwork is miles ahead of Shiphtur's. While he may not post the same KDAs or flashy plays as Shiphtur, his ability to snowball the rest of his team during lane and then absolutely control teamfights fits way better with C9's rotation- and teamfight-heavy dynamic than Shiphtur would.
