#A Corporate Matter Episode: What nerfs around buffs around

One week ago:

Nasus "So let me guess, Your plan to make more people play supports didn't work?"

Gnar "Hey, it's not my fault Corporate Lee Sin won't make them fun to play again."

LeeSin "Come on guys, Corporate Mundo tasked us three with getting more support players out there. That's why we are having this meeting in my office."

Gnar "Then how come I'm the only one doing any work. It doesn't matter how many I make free if no one likes them."

Nasus "You can't be so egotistical as to think you are the only one trying, Pipsqueak."

Gnar Oh really? How many supports have you been putting on sale lately? And the only thing Corporate Lee Sin has done is nerf Ivern. THE ONE PERSON PEOPLE WERE PLAYING AS SUPPORT!"

LeeSin "Well I n-"

BOOM!

Nasus "What was th-"

Vayne "First you fire me. Then you nerf me into the ground. And when I'm finally played like I used to be, you nerf me again. WELL YOU DIDN'T DO ENOUGH! I'M HERE FOR REVENGE!"

Janna "Hey, you can't be in here without scheduling an appointment."

Vayne "Oh, is this your new secretary. You simply replace me with a younger better-looking elf girl. Sorry to do this to ya hun. When you recover, you should leave when you have the chance. Otherwise, he is just going to throw you away when a newer model comes along." "Three-shots Janna."

Janna "I thought she was only supposed to be good against tanks...." "Dies."

LeeSin "Don't worry guys, I counter Vayne. Time to show off some of my real skills."

Vayne "I don't think so." "Condemns him into a desk."

Nasus "Come on you wimp, do something. I can't get anywhere near her."

LeeSin "Can't, that was my one act of bravery for the year. Time to do this the cowards way." "Picks up phone."

Camille "Hello?"

LeeSin "Thank Rito you picked up. Remember how you wanted to be a champion. Well, I think I could pull a few strings. But first, you gotta save me. I got some crazy, Selene mixed with Lurtz, type chick in my office. She seems really upset."

Camille "Alright, I shall be right over."

RekSai "Do you have a phone in your leg?"

Camille "Yeah, I have everything built into these bad boys. Want a mint?"

RekSai "Sure. So does this mean we can't go out for tea, shopping, and laughing at peasants?"

Camille "My dear Fair Lady Rek'Sai, If there is one thing I have learned in my old age. It's that there is always time for shopping. I'm sure they can wait a little bit."

LeeSin "Alright, help is on the way. We just have to hold tight."

Vayne "Tight, that gives me an idea. Here, put these ropes on."

LeeSin "We better do what she says."

A couple hours later:

Gnar "Oh man! I forgot, I have to write the free rotation post for this week. Oh no, it's already way past posting time. Here, Corporate Lee Sin. Get my Phonerang out of my pocket. I need to make a call."

LeeSin "Alright, just come on close to me over here Gnarly."

Gnar "Hey! That's not my Phonerang."

LeeSin "It's not? Huh, coulda fooled me. Ah, here it is." "Holds Phonerang up to Corporate Gnar."

Soraka "Corporate Gnar's office. This is Soraka speaking."

Gnar "Hey Soraka! I'm a little tied up at the moment. Do you think you could write the free rotation post this week? We are already super late. You can find the list in my desk."

Soraka "Yeah sure thing. You alright boss?"

Vayne "DID I SAY YOU COULD TALK ON THE PHONE!"

Gnar "Gotta go, bye."

Nasus "I hope your savior arrives soon."

Three days later:

Camille "Hahaha, I am so glad you could join us, Lissandra."

Lissandra "How could I turn down the chance to spend time with my lady friends. We fancy old folk have to stick together you know."

Meanwhile:

Vayne "That's it, all one hundred twenty-four mirrors of yours, thrown away. Carefully, so that they didn't break and I get horrible bad luck. You really loved seeing yourself. And here I thought I was vain."

LeeSin "Sheds one small tear."

Nasus "That's it, she isn't coming to help. Go do something pipsqueak."

Gnar "I can't, she makes everyone she fights super salty. And if I'm salty I go mega, then she counters me."

LeeSin "Just hold on, Camille is on her way. She's just old and doesn't really have legs. But she's coming."

Two more days later:

Vayne "This is a nice Yasuo nerf ya got here. Shame if someone were to, destroy it."

LeeSin "But that's bad for you too!"

Vayne "Who cares, as long as it makes the people hate you more. Now, where are you keeping that Katarina nerf?"

LeeSin "Jokes on her, there isn't one."

Nasus "Alright, I'm doing something about it. DIE YOU STUPID ADC!" "Breaks free of the ropes by using ult."

Vayne "Yeah, no." "Three-shots Corporate Nasus."

Nasus "That's not fair. Stupid true damage." "Dies."

LeeSin "Why isn't she here yet. WHY DO WOMEN ALWAYS HAVE TO TAKE SO LONG TO GET READY!"

Present day:

Camille "Oh my, would you look at the time. Has it been a week already? Sorry gals, I have somewhere to be."

Lissandra "Awwwww, but the party was just getting started."

RekSai "It's quite alright. I have an acquaintance with Gentleman Cho'Gath I need to get to."

Camille "You simply must fill me in on the details when I get back."

A few hookshots later:

Vayne "HUH, WHO'S THERE?"

Camille "Look, let's make this quick. I've got a power nap I need to get to. Get it, power nap. Because I need to charge my legs. Anyways. Let me just one-shot you and get this over with. HEXTECH ULTIMATUM!"

Vayne "You may have dodged my condemn with that stupid untargetability. But I can just dash out of this dar- Oh, that is not fair." "Dies."

Camille "No one leaves my zone. Oh my, Her true damage counters my shield and nearly killed me. Good thing I'm op. I expect to be in League by the time I get home. Camille away!" "Hookshots away."

Gnar "She forgot to untie us."

[slayer-jinx-unamused] I am very disappointed we're back to no additional supports; only 2 just isn't enough for good team comps with the playerbase League of Legends has. While Brand and Blitzcrank were bad picks for the list, the rest of the list was pretty solid and made for better games IMO, especially Sona Sona and Taric Taric which are relatively new-player-friendly and don't lend themselves to stealing CS. While a full extra 10 isn't necessary, I think at least 2-6 extra slots to provide a better variety of supports and account for the ever-increasing number of champions is a really good idea that should be implemented permanently.

I think simply fixing the # of champions in the free rotation at 10% rounding up of the number of total champions would strike a good balance going forward. 14 for now with 6 of the slots dedicated to serious supports, rising to 15 sometime in 2017-2018 when champion 141 comes out. Probably keeping the % of support slots roughly proportional... around 3/8ths perhaps? Attention should probably be given to ensuring there's always a tank support, a heal-ally support, a strong shield-ally support, and a cc-heavy support (it usually won't take 4 champions to fill all these slots since there's a fair bit of overlap, such as with Morgana being strong in both cc and shielding,) and that at least 2 of the 6 support champions are highly newbie-friendly.

I believe this will strike a fair balance between consistently giving users enough options to play support when they get autofilled while still selling support champions to people who grow attached to them. That's the main reason I'm not suggesting keeping the rotation at 10 supports long-term (though I'd be OK with that) - there aren't really enough support champions to fulfill quite so many without severely devaluing buying any of them. I do definitely want to see the rotation permanently raised at least a little from the previous 10 total to fit a greater variety of support champions in.

So riot, since the free support ploy didn't work do you have any plans to make supports more fun to play? Or maybe to add a new support champ that is actually a support champ and not a support jungler?
