ARURF Weekend Begins

Hey all,

Obviously Clash's opening weekend was a bust. This is in no way a one-for-one replacement, but we’re turning on ARURF globally until the end of Sunday.

We realise this isn’t the same sort of competitive experience that you were expecting this weekend, but we wanted to offer something in the interim that we could quickly hotfix up to a playable standard while we work out our next steps for the players affected by Clash's cancellation. As ARURF is one of our most requested modes, we hope this will bring some respite to an otherwise rough weekend.

To be clear, working out what caused Clash to fail and how we're going to fix it is our main priority. We're not done with the discussion yet, and we're weighing options on next steps for affected players.

Heads up: There are likely gonna be bugs and some weird interactions as we haven’t had a huge amount of time to test on this patch, so we might be disabling some runes and champs pretty early on.

We’ll have more information regarding the next steps for Clash in the coming days.

A big thing that bothered me about clash was that I would never be able to play it, I ALWAYS work weekends, and I'm ALWAYS at work @ 5. I sleep at @ 8 AM. So while I was really excited first about it, it wouldn't have worked. There should be a midnight clash as well for us night owls because it really made us feel like you don't care about a significant chunk of your player-base.

I don't really care what mode it is or why the reason were getting it is, I'm just happy to actually see a Featured Game Mode. We haven't had one in what feels like, Too Damn Long!

SR has so many expectations the moment you queue up a match and ARAM is super limited on what champions you actually get to play due to the whole "random" element. Oh wait... :^)

“Urf makes people stop playing league” ok riot we’re not falling for it, whenever urf came back all my friends would get on league (including the ones who quit long ago) so grow a pair and let us have fun and pick our champs. And so what if people stop playing league, that just means you need to make the game better.

does not bother me at all that clash was canceled.. i dont have a 5 man premade team..so i couldnt be a part of it anyways..and i felt left out. On another note..I do miss the weekend game modes. please bring those back. and work on some new ones! :) :) The star guardian one you guys came up with last year was pretty cool... :) also a fan of the project one. <3 [sg-ahri-2]

Honestly, after reading the whole Riot post regarding the cancellation of Clash, I feel a little insulted. It seems that Riot is apologetic in the post but refused to say anything in the realms of "sorry," "we apologize," "we fully understand how much effort was put into making your clash teams and set the time and we are sorry to inform you in such a short time frame", etc. For some of us, even if its a few, it's incredibly difficult to gather our group of friends who all have work and responsibilities beyond the game. We love the game. Although we don't get to play as much as we would like, we always try to find the time to play with each other. We were all hyped up to play together as a team in clash. We all worked together to schedule time apart to play Clash (no, we didn't change our schedules not to go work during Clash but rather changed it to work on other days instead of the weekend when Clash would take place). At least say you are sorry. This post shows that you're sorry but freaking say it. Everyone who was going to participate in Clash practiced and played more league games just to play Clash. We didn't care if we didn't win. We just really enjoyed the idea of facing other group of people who actually play the game as it was intended. The game is meant to be competitive. That's what drives this game. It's not always the most fun game. League is fun at times, but the game has changed to a competitive game. For the most part, I enjoy that idea. As you grow older, you realize that "fun" is not enough. Competitiveness keeps people coming back to league. Why would I waste my time and effort on Fornite, PUBG, OW, or other games if my time and effort won't be appreciated it? That's just me. League is the perfect game for competitiveness. You feel like shit when you lose, why? Because you actually care about winning. You lose in other games and you could care less. League is different. If you're good, you could give no shits about your life.

40 hours of work earns me 1 hour of personal time off and some people used up 72 hours of their PTO. some people just used up 2880 work hours to play clash this weekend. Never tried ARURF tho, hope it's fun.

so we all have off for memorial day... and I log in and ARURF is still announced on the landing page. but its off already?? wtf
