Rise of the Elements Pass

Riot··3 votes·44,985 views

Rise of the Elements is here, and so is a brand new rewards pass! We have some exciting changes coming to the Teamfight Tactics progression experience, so let's dive in to what’s new.

Higher Quality Rewards

The Rise of the Elements pass is more heavily focused on the most exciting stuff. You’ll be able to earn four map chromas, based off the four core elements of the set: Inferno, Mountain, Ocean, and Cloud.

This pass doesn’t have any summoner icons—we’ve seen the memes and know you have plenty of them. We’ve upgraded all of the smaller rewards to emotes.

At the end of the pass are two little legends eggs, a Set 1 Egg and a Set 1-3 Rare Egg.

More Time

So far, our passes have been pretty strict on time limitations, which means you haven’t had very long to get to the most exciting rewards at the end of ’em. This one will stay up for the entire length of the Rise of the Elements set. We hope this gives you more time to earn the things you’re excited about.

Play Flexibly

In addition to the extra time, this pass is also more flexible in two specific ways:

  • Orb of Enlightenment: We wanted to make it easier for players who don’t play TFT every day but still play a lot of it to get a good amount of XP from the Orb. The Orb will now recharge every three days instead of every day, so if you only play certain nights or only on weekends, you’ll have a much easier time earning XP in this pass.
  • Larger Missions: Some weeks will have larger missions, but fewer of them. These missions could take a couple of days to finish, but you’ll have access to them for the entire week. We’re excited to hear what you think about doing more small tasks vs working towards a bigger goal over multiple days.

This pass will be active from the first day of Rise of the Elements until the launch of the next set.

Best of luck in the Convergence!

I would like to see a way to re-roll missions possibly too since not all missions are fun to do and require me to throw sometimes to do if I wanted to play the game and also try to do missions.

Sleepcoma3 votes

That's actually a really good idea. Take my upvote.

Perkolate187 votes

i disagree, missions arent supposed to always be free and easy. On top of that every game you play isn't supposed to get you the full mission done, kind of like how the summoners rift missions work during events. Not every game will you kill 5 dragons/barons and what not. Plus, missions = points and points = free stuff so either do the given mission or dont get free stuff.

NightlRift4 votes

I would actually agree with this. The trick is to figure out how to get a mission done and earn rewards, while at the same time still working out how to come as high as possible on the board.

Supp me Up5 votes

yeah but shit like "Play 20 dragons or Sorcerors!" shouldnt be a mission. Organic missions that complete as yu play the game are the best missions, not the ones that force you to alter your playstyle. For example, "build 5 3 star champions" is much better than "Run 5 knights", even if the knights one is easier. Thats going to cause someone like me that only plays ranked to go into a norms 'for fun" match just to get a mission since i probably dont use the set they want me to for the mission.

Felgenatra4 votes

then stop playing only ranked, open your horizons

OmarWott1 votes

I do not mind but in some cases i cannot even use the comps it wants since it is a rng game with pulls and i do not always econ to get 50 every game. i do not mind playing 20 classes or something but when its something small like dragon or robot then i rather get rid of that mission, it is not worth doing for 70 exp anyways.

Pass should have more of a focus on eggs and chromas. For this past pass the only thing worth getting was that one egg and blue chroma. Made me not even want to play. Also why was the last prize a icon...no body wants that. Give us a reason to want to play till the very end.

It would be cool if the pass can also implement some ranked based rewards.

Studio Ghoul11 votes

How many tiers are in the pass though? If there's only one pass then this seems like a downgrade for people who are finishing every pass on time.

Soul Blade8 votes

Yeah, this sounds like -

"Hey fam, we heard that some of you didn't play enough to earn rewards that only take like a few games per day to earn.

Sooo, instead we're going to REDUCE the number of orb and pass rewards, to give those thicc wallet work... er, uh, Weekend Warriors, a chance to earn more top tier prizes.

Yeah, this screws those that hammer out those few games or so each day with earning less total rewards, but it's ok, because now you'll earn TWO (old series) EGGS at the end!"

Now seriously though, if you made this a TOKEN that lets you PICK which S1-S3 little legend you want (not even the chroma, but at least which legend), this would be good. Otherwise, getting only two random eggs is a joke, when it costs potentially so much to get the particular Legend and chroma you want.

Maybe I am way off here, but if the Little Legend prices were lower, say to around 250-299 (seeing as how random they are), you'd sell a ton more.

Why don't you try putting them on sale and see what happens... [sg-miss-fortune]

PsychoPyro6231 votes

To make it even better, that final egg costs 20k points! So if you've been grinding for the pass so far, here comes another grind for MORE THAN DOUBLE what the first egg requires (8500). [zombie-brand-mindblown]

TK4real7 votes

I agree, I finished each pass with plenty of time left, leaving me without earning any further rewards. I don't sit here playing the game all day, every day, and certainly played less once the rewards were earned. But if i can complete it, others should be able to as well. Unless you only log one game a week.

BlueAirplane10 votes

Why do you guys only drop Series 1-3 eggs? I get that you guys want to make most money out of high demand eggs but atleast drop one or two. Also this comes out after TrueDamage patch which you guys could've put in series 5 which would've really got people to play for rewards at the end. (Honestly now that I've seen series 4 and 5, series 1-3 looks so bland)

Mad Mahxxi5 votes

If they're truly putting TFT for the long run, then I can imagine Series 1-3 eggs will eventually become Legacy, then Series 4-6? will become the new 1-3 compared to whatever new ones they have, considering the quality of these Little Legends increasing dramatically. Just give it time, someone will probably be in your shoes saying "Why...only drop Series 4-6 eggs?"

Żügżwäng12 votes

Personal opinion (since some people need to be reminded): the true damage little legends are gaudy. Some of the best ones are from the original sets.

Akwa5 votes

Yeah idk what they were thinking with series 5.its bad

Akwa9 votes

All opinion, but I'm glad it's only 1-3. Series 4 and especially 5 are the worst. Only thing 4 has going for is the pig, but that's about it. And this is coming from someone who's spent so much on little. Legends.

higher quality more emotes

i'd rather get icons than emotes but i guess i'm in a minority.

Helcaraxë4 votes

You’re probably a minority because you can only show icons one at a time. Emotes can be shown multiple times. I don’t much like either, but emotes are slightly better and I understand the need for small rewards

Supp me Up3 votes

"Emotes are slightly better because you can show them off more." He says to someone that mutes all emotes lol. Obviously opinions are a thing, and my opinion is that yours is trash, since you cant mute my icon and everyone will see it on your friends list. Im sure youve got a couple of people tht use the same icon and youve come to associate them with that icon to the point that when they finally change it, youre confused for a split second and think they deleted you.

SynergyFactor1 votes

100% agree.

Fuck emotes, remove them from the game. I mute all emotes, opponent and ally alike.

Helcaraxë1 votes

Ik u said this forever ago but I'm just now checking replies lol. It's not my fault you mute emotes. It proves you are, in fact, in the minority, because most do not mute all emotes. My point was that you can show off more emotes at once, whereas the icon is static. Once you found your favorite icon, that's your icon, and getting a new one does nothing. What you said kinda proves that point: you say your friends stick to one icon and you associate them with it. Yes, that icon is very valuable to them, but few of their other icons are. They have a ton of useless icons in their inventory. Maybe they'd use emotes if they got them, but you wouldn't see, since they are muted.

Totally fine u mute emotes btw, you do you. Play as you want to play. I'm glad u like icons

Ev Ángel2 votes

Unpopular opinion, Icons are cool. I like the collectable ones in the passes.

TK4real4 votes

Agreed. But you can only have one displayed at a time and there are so many. The final reward for the pass, shouldn't be another "lame" icon. While they are fun to collect and switch around, there are so many - it's not a great incentitive as a final reward. Feels - meh

You are, and there's a pretty simple reason. Everyone has nine million summoner icons, and you can only display one at a time, whereas you can take a whole bunch of emotes with you into a match, so there's more reason to collect them and they're also more functionally useful.

Supp me Up3 votes

yeah but 3 months later, youll be getting messages asking "wait bro howd you get that icon?" and you remind them that it was a limited event.

I only wish that happened for me. I've had the icon from Dominion's termination since the day it happened, and its come up maybe once or twice in the last few years. And undoubtedly the same thing will happen with whatever stupid icon they decide to give us for 3v3 as a consolation prize.

Orb of Enlightenment: We wanted to make it easier for players who don’t play TFT every day but still play a lot of it to get a good amount of XP from the Orb. The Orb will now recharge every three days instead of every day

How will this make it any easier? This means we're getting less passive XP which means less overall XP, people who skip days still get an orb on the day they come back so this is really only hitting people that aren't skipping days.

Tahngarthor6 votes

Will never play TFT ever, it should be a separate game (and it IS for mobile). TT being bumped for a mode basically created for the Chinese market (Riot has indicated its by far most popular in China vs everywhere else). So I thus really don't care how long the passes last.

SAVE TWISTED TREELINE (or make a better 3v3 mode). We're losing a game mode that in some way ties to the rest of league of legends for a game mode that has literally nothing to do with it beyond theming and really should just be a self contained game.

edit: Bring on the downvotes, yes I'm salty, having thousands of 3v3 matches (and almost as many in dominion before that). But what really irks me perhaps even more than the loss of TT is what we got in its place isn't really even a new LoL game mode- its a whole different game that hasa basically nothing to do with LoL.

dominion > tt > sr

never gonna change dominion unfortunately required a brain to play though, unlike sr where you mindlessly attack creeps for the first 10 minutes before anything real happens so it was removed

ZT Xperimentor3 votes

He's comparing them to teamfight tactics not eachother, dominion & twisted treeline are both better than tft by far. And I agree it shouldn't be replacing a mainstay.

haha there's definitely some truth to that. I'm not going to knock SR as the main game- I just take issue with TT, a game mode that still resembles "normal" league just with different map and team size, being bumped for a "game mode" that has little to do with League at all other than the theming aspect.

So more time to earn the rewards, less overall rewards if we didn't miss any of the pass before. Pros and Cons for sure.

Catering toward the casual players

Gimonfu5 votes

What we still REALLY need is some kinf of undo function (once) for the shop.. Just a reminder.

Supp me Up2 votes

what we need is a "Place champions into previous positions" button for after the PvE rounds. I always put my carries on the right for the wolves, as an example, and sometimes im showerd in such good items and gold that 20 seconds isnt long enough for me to 1)Donkey roll and upgrade champs that are still weak, 2)Put all my champs in proper position and 3)Figure out which items i want on which champs while also making sure i dont need that item on a future champ...

Citrogen5 votes

I agree the orb system needed a tweak, but as usual Riot OVER corrects this. I would argue that the average casual player didn't really care for the rewards in general. However, the people that do care about the rewards tend towards the more diligent / daily player. In that light this change hurts the people that care about the pass rewards the most.

In my opinion a more proper system would be 44 hour cool down on the claim, and up the games played to seven. This is a nice happy medium.

I also liked the idea of more passes per set.

Additionally, I think if you want to make a longer pass give it options.

IE: have the pass break up into choices come the third tier. Then people can gather up things they prefer instead of being locked into gaining five things they don't care about to get to the one item that shines to them.

It would also be neat to see the missions broken up further.

IE: weekly and daily missions. Make the weekly harder, and the daily missions easier. I personally like the idea of an option for something to work towards every day.

Coyote4 votes

How long will sets usually lasts?

Larriet2 votes

Set 1 was about 5 months; they are still experimenting with Set length, but somewhere between 4-6 months seems to be the best length according to Riot Mort.

What this really means is if you don't play TFT you're not getting the free emotes and icons at the lower end of the pass- that's the real reason for this change, just spun to sound better than it is.

I don't and won't ever play TFT but you better believe im collecting the free stuff.

Seems weird to not have something beyond a chroma. Would be nice if there was some non-chroma big reward at the end of the pass for those who actually go through and get all of it.

It's really not a nice change, the orb thing. What it really means is you get less rewards for not playing TFT. Yes, I'm in a small minority of people who actually care about that fact, but basically you'll only get 70 points every 3 days instead of every single day.

What we really, really, REALLY need -- is TFT to get it's own version of the client, and keep TT in League...

Rito advertises all the new gameS they are making, but they won't ALL share the same loader and client, right?

If they do, then take a page from Blizzard's book, and make one over-loader/patcher, but keep each SEPARATE game in its own SEPARATE client.

/rantmode ON

I hate feeling like I 'need' to play TFT to earn LOL rewards, when TFT is its own game, and should have it's own rewards.

If you are going to integrate the two games together, then let me earn TFT rewards for playing normal league, and let me use my PAID for LOL skins on the TFT champs when I play them, when I do decide to play a game of TFT...

I feel like TFT is leeching the overall player experience from LOL. Haven't the average overall games of LOL played per day gone down since TFT was released (not counting the past few days with URF going on)?

I don't even play TT, but I truly feel for all the 3v3 players out there who are losing their main LEAGUE mode for an entirely DIFFERENT game that Rito is too lazy to make a clone of its client for.

[sg-ahri-3]

Tahngarthor2 votes

riots first new "not league at all" (the blatant hearthstone rip-off) game is entirely seperate at least- This is why there is now a seperate log-in program for league, and the league client no longer handles logging in- You now have a Riot account, rather than a League of Legends account.

Honestly the worst part is TFT does have an entirely seperate client for mobile (coming out soon). It really should be its own thing, but it's basically piggybacking on League for exposure.

However, the same here has already spent enough money in the regular League of Legends ... and I will continue to support Rito in the coming years ... but my TFT experience starts when I can play on my IPAD pro such as Wild Rift and legends of Runeterra

[katarina-love]

I don't agree about playing games like TFT on my PC-RIG, but that's just my 2 cents It disrupts the interface of League of Legends and TFT is not part of the Summoners Rift, they have to make a different interface for it and/or selector in the login screen and start their various games from there

I like the missions changing size instead of a bunch of small ones. But I still feel like they need a little more meaning. Honestly a lot of them feel more like work and are discouraging to even try. The "get to a certain stage" or "go on a win streak" are great, but forcing us to play a certain type of unit more often than not means I'm purposely losing just to get the achievement. Our comp usually changes each game, so trying to get the achievement is kind of annoying for me since I don't play TFT as often. The Orb of Enlightenment and Larger Missions changes are great, but the missions themselves maybe need a little more refining? Just my opinion.

YIKES. You think emotes are an 'upgrade' from fucking icons?

You could remove emotes from the game and nobody would give half a fuck.

In fact, please do so. Thanks!
