UPDATE: Dynamic Ranked is back in action!

The 2016 ranked season is now live! Gather your allies and gear up for all new challenges as you climb the ladder in 2016. We’ve introduced a swath of changes over the course of preseason, as well as new dynamic groups -- now you can queue for ranked play with any number of friends. With new champ select, you’ll queue up for your two best positions -- you’re guaranteed to always end up with one of the two positions you select -- and join a team of players who’ve done the same.

As usual, you'll have ten placement games to fight through before settling in to your tier and division, ready for the climb. Your placement is still heavily influenced by where you ended up last season and what you accomplished during preseason. If you’ve never played ranked, then your placements will be all that matters!

Preseason brought some substantial changes to the game (learn more about preseason here), so we’re again running a soft reset before placements kick off. As with previous years because of the soft reset, you’ll likely place lower than where you ended last year.

so win 7/10 placements, get bronze 5, 3 losses due to afk's trolls, and people expect you to accept that because your mmr is higher than your average for your league, you can still climb... they fail to point out your mmr is capped at 10% higher then the average for your 'league' and that no matter what if you have the unfortunate luck to be stuck with the trolls, afks, and leavers that still are allowed access to ranked after countless times of being reported for these types of abuse. Is supposed to not get at least a little salty about their luck, considering the same people that will preach 'you can climb' typically will not have the same string of luck resulting in over 250 ally deaths in 3 games, yes a total of 250 ally deaths in 3 games.... placements are a joke, please just put everyone at B5 and ban out the troll accounts from ranked, 7 years is to much for the community to continue to accept this.

So....the new queue system isn't fully tested or deployed yet, the new mastery system isn't balanced or ready yet (THUNDERLORD'S DECREE EVERYWHERE BECAUSE ITS LITERALLY THE BEST FOR ALMOST EVERYONE) and the Marksmen Update isn't even fully finalized but to hell with it, let's launch anyway!

What about if we lose a ton of games due to afk teammates and intentional feeders? I feel like this happens in a majority of my placement games.

Im upset with this ranking system. I was in b3 almost into b2, and here comes placements. I get the usual in my ten placement matches, going 5/5. Now, Im back in b5, right back at square one. Mind you, I have, or had more then 200 wins in that league alone, still could not get out. This sort of thing makes me disinclined to play LoL.

Soft reset my ass! Seen people in gold 2 drop to silver 4 or worse! Hell Diamond players are dropping to low gold. Heavily influenced??? Do I need to get a dictionary for you Riot? I know you can only get to Plat 1 from promos but to drop a WHOLE level or more is more than a soft reset.

this placement has been bs. riot needs to fix this shit. my wife climbed to silver 2 before the season and went 5/5 and place bronze 1. i was a high point bronze 1 and went 5/5 got bronze 4. this is the kind of stuff that makes people quit playing cause ranked is just a never end elo hell vortex

So... Riot people. I want to understand how I go from Plat 4 to Gold 4 when I've won 8/10 of my games. No duos, I've been consistently been playing with Plat S5 people with plat/dia borders. Can anyone tell me what this is? Do they just want me to waste my time getting back up to Plat again?

When is the new system going to be fixed? everyone is even MORE ridiculous about who goes where now that the new queue was taken away. there's people fighting over where they're going even in the game! it's almost impossible to play with people because of how immature they are. I would like it very much if it was updated immediately.

riot needs to address AFK's in Provisionals... far too many times players are screwed over because of AFK in beginning or during match. it is unfair to placements and virtually a pointless match... yes 4v5 can be won. but rarely does that happen. just a point needed to be addressed

Riot please fix these ranked placements. I went 7/10 in placement and got bronze 5. A lot of people will say it is because I got carried, but on all of my games I did pretty darn good, even the ones we lost. I went 7/1/8 blitz win, 6/9/16 blitz loss, 8/5/4 darius win, 4/2/19 win, 12/2/2 heim win, 2/7/10 blitz loss, 10/2/5 teemo win, 3/4/2 blitz loss, 4/3/4 darius win, 3/2/16 blitz win. These are not bronze 5 stats. Also I didn't just play one champ yes blitz was played a lot, but I play other champs and kicked butt. Please look into this problem. On top of my problems three other people in my game had the same problem. One was 7/10 and got bronze 5 and the other was 9/10 and got bronze 5. Riot please fix this. Almost all ranked players are having this problem.

*i went 2/10 last season but only died about 4 times, and had more than 50 kills, so I secretly believe it's how you do in the game that mostly matters, but idk

Just a quick tip/note for you guys if you're concerned about maining a position: if you at least duo queue, you and your partner can select the same two positions. That way, even if you get your partner's position you can just trade out.

Example: I queue bot/support and my partner goes support/bot. If I get support then he lands bot, and we just let our team know, "Hey, we're duo so we're trading spots. I'm not actually trying to adc Sona"

Edit: Note that this works for any two positions, not just the bot lane duo. All you have to do is share the same two positions in queue with your duo.
