Clash NA launch canceled due to technical issues

Riot·5/25/2018, 11:29:43 PM·1 votes·11,781 views

We are sorry to tell you that we’ve decided to cancel this weekend’s Clash launch due to unexpected technical issues that appeared when rolling it out across regions earlier today. We want your first play through of Clash to be as amazing as possible, but unfortunately we are not confident in the event experience that you and your teams would have had.

We know that you have made an incredible commitment clearing your schedules and practicing with teammates to prepare for Clash, and our team is focused on finding a solution to get Clash back on track. This work will continue and there will likely be Clash tests in certain regions around the world as we explore fixes, but this Clash weekend is officially canceled here in North America. We will continue to keep you updated.

To those of you wondering, your Clash ticket will still be in your inventory and can be used when Clash is available in the future.

How do you have a successful Beta run and then botch the actual event? I requested a day off of work for this. Now I have to just sit here.

So if I use my non changeable vacation days/ and took a few extra days off which I will lose money on and practiced with a team (moved other things around) I have no way of getting that back. This costed me a lot.

tbh, wouldn't have minded a slightly worse Clash, instead of waiting.

Should totally reward everyone currently on a clash team with free loot <.<

Interesting that the thread with 1000+ comments got replaced by this one, just because of a typo in the title.

Unless the issues were so bad that the mode and tournament was unplayable, or so buggy that the experience was not worth the time, its a serious dick move to cancel so late. I wouldn't have minded the cancellation if it happened, oh i dunno, earlier than 10 minutes before start. It's the incredibly late notice thats going to drive people up the wall

I bash their ways all the time, so when I say we should appreciate what they are forfeiting to fix clash, we should shut up, set up the grill, cook out, and raise your beer glass to Riot. Long story short, they busted their butts trying to make Clash possible, and cancelling it was a necessary action they really didn't want to take. They are spending their three day weekend stuck in their offices and cubicles trying to fix the bugs and kinks in the system. Obviously it's not an easy fix, since it caused the cancellation in the first place. These guys are exhausted, stressed, and are going to miss out on a lot of time that would have been spent with family and friends. You guys constantly bitching about Clash being down and starting your crusades is a poor way of showing your appreciation for their efforts. Shut up and do something else with your time

Wow, so you guys even went ahead and hid the original post where most of the people commented showing their disgust with your move? Fantastic.

No wonder everyone is playing fortnite, League can’t keep up with itself it seems.

GG Rito. You somehow had to post it twice in announcements to rub it in.

I was pissed to find out clash was cancelled, sure. I understand that many of you took a lot of time preparing for this event, but just like everything else with league, shit happens. Not everything is going to go according to plan, kinks need to get worked out, but the fact of the matter is this was necessary. I mean while many of you took the day off for this event, or even multiple days off to prepare, it was the first time they were going to run it for real. They tried their best, at least give Rito that.

It says how royal never give up. It seems riot give up quite easily on this one.

Sucks for the people who skipped work, but lowkey funny how much they hyped it up then it didn't work, and then they changed the loading screen, crayzeeee.

Given the technical issues I would also like to point out the following:

When clash was announced it was supposed to be a way for people to play a tournament experience for the masses. Unfortunately, short of swapping regions or taking time off work, for a lot of people playing it just wasn't reasonable. I could have done the Friday late start, but why was there no later time on Saturday and Sunday? People do work the weekend and have kids. If you actually want to fix this mode to be what it was stated it should have multiple start times, I would think something like 2 PM, 5 PM, 8 PM Pacific, but for all three days.

And not even a Rotating/Feature Game Mode for the weekend? ARUF? Ascension? nothing in return for the mishap? :'(

Does anyone know if the clash is coming back next weekend?
