MSI Winner’s Icon

Pick up the Korea MSI Winner’s icon in the store from May 20 through June 3 to commemorate the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational. To celebrate Korea's victory, the Winner's icon will be available for 1 IP in Korea and for 250 RP in all other regions.

Party (IP) Time

Six regions battled to see who would Own the Rift at MSI and at home. Check out the final standings for the icon tracking competition below:

The Party IP rewards you will receive based on regional performance and party size are as follows: (Example, for a party of 5 in the first place region, you’ll receive 300% bonus IP)

Honestly, people in NA didn't wanna turn on the icons for an IP weekend. I tried to get my friends to turn on the icons, but everyone has to be special and didn't wanna share the same icon as everyone else. Maybe it's just me but apparently an IP weekend wasn't enough of an incentive for NA to get their collective heads together and use the icons.

Turkey won this competition regardless of who won first place at MSI, sadly.

well it also dependent on the group for example the main group i played with some of the people wanted rp for it while the rest of us were like nah it is just 250 so we did not care and most of us own everything in the game that we don't care about ip

It's been up and posted around their websites and had several reddit posts about it. They talked about it several times during MSI and I'm pretty sure the client had a link to the post on their website. In summation, if you didn't know and played/watched any league it's because you had your eyes and ears closed.

So. I had no idea either, but even before reading your comment I thought "oh that's what that link at the bottom of the client was about..." What you say is pretty much all right, but the fact remains that there's little reason to visit the website and a lot of people don't use Reddit at all.

That's why they put it in the client, but they put so many of what I consider to be garbage announcements about Esports in the client I don't bother to open any of them anymore, particularly since I grew tired of Esports and only watch particular games now. That is to say pretty much, yes I have closed my ears and eyes to anything that has an Esports-related title in the client news modules - I've always pulled up the link when its about an in-game IP weekend though. This one was marked under an MSI heading from what I recall, and frankly, a lot of us just consider that to be an indirect announcement. TUR seems to be more hyped about Esports events, so I'm going to say they won fair and square since this was supposed to be about building hype for MSI.

EDIT: That awkward moment when a comment had upvotes (@Pimpinabox) until you write a comment replying to them, giving that person some context on why so many people acted in a particular way that the original poster drew attention to... only to return a couple days and see they have a huge amount of downvotes, possibly (at least partially) as a consequence of your reply...

I honestly agree with this logic, in my opinion the game would be much more fun if riot wasn't shoving esports down literally everybody's throats. I used to occassionally watch and enjoy it, but now with all of these boring announcements clogging up the in-game client I really don't click on anything anymore. It's sad what the client is turning into :(

Exactly. I clicked to this because it was a bold and clean square about MSI, which is the brand of computer I own, so I thought it would be a sponsored reward.

I have clicked several Esports links/banners from within the client, only to sit and listen to some foreign announcers ramble on and on about things I don't care about. If I could just spectate the games, I would definitely watch more, but having to sit through all the "sports broadcasting" BS really ruins it for me. As an addition to this, I really miss the ability to spectate high ELO games from the bottom right corner of the client.

Considering it wasn't well placed on the League client (not obvious), the MSI timing was so bad hardly anyone watched (compared to scheduled broadcasting for NA/EU), and a very small player base actually uses reddit (compared to the actual user base) how can you make a legitimate claim people had their "eyes and ears" closed? I can't tell if you're 15 years old or a trolling neckbeard.

This just goes to show that no one reads the Articles. In more than 1 Article pertaining to MSI it specifically said even in bold letters on one article on how to achieve points. This isn't just an issue towards MSI, but even patch notes as well most people play to play and learn as they go. For as many people that are in the US. I can say 5 of my 100 people on my list actually put the icon on.

Except it was directly in the client. Of course they didn't put it up in big bold flashing letters, they didn't think you were that stupid. That's their only mistake.

Yeah, it was buried almost instantly with other news posts and they barely mentioned it afterwards. The timing was really bad for NA. I didn't even realize it until I saw others spamming the icon and looked up the info.

That guy is classic euro trying to bag on USA with any means necessary, don't think he is factoring that NA is USA +Canada +Mexico +plus anyone that prefers NA servers, NA does not = USA

think incentive for solo is just no there and intensive to get first place over second is just crappy, while NA players could have been on the game since 2009 and turkey server has been open since early 2013 could mean more incentive to unlock content using IP, i know i don't need any ip so i didn't participate

All those European fans tuned in to end up hating G2. As a Korean born EU fan living in NA, I hate G2 so much and I'm proud of CLG, and sort of eh about SKT always winning.

My lack of feelings for SKT stems mainly from getting tired of watching them 3-0 in the finals against Western teams at all the international tournaments. They are too good it makes it less fun :(

Yeah. It was sorta bad that SKT had to face RNG for the semi finals and not the finals. Their last game in group stages was amazing to watch and so fast paced, as was their semi final matches. NA and EU teams won't stand that much of a chance of getting to finals if they were forced to play Asian teams in the semis.

Do you realize that if you took away the Pro games the standings would be same except for NA would have gotten 5th and China would have gotten 4th. Assuming that you are from NA seeing that your are on the NA post, you should be happy that we had the Pro games otherwise you would have gotten nothing.
